does anyone no where the hottest summers are located on the south island? The major reason that is stopping me from voting for it is that the summers are a bit too cool. I prefer summers in the upper 70sF to lower 80sF Hottest official average maximum is Alexandra, although there unofficial stations with higher maximums in inland Nelson/Marlborough.
Warmest average summers are Nelson/Marlborough

South Island because of better winters and overall less seasonality.

Top of the South has some really decent climates with a better rainfall distribution.
