I'm interested in what people are listening to music with. Are there any audiophiles on this forum with high end gear? Personally I'm sporting Sennheiser HD800 headphones with a Meier Audio DAC and amp and handmade ultra pure copper cables by Cardas and AQVOX. On the software side, JPLAY for clean output from the PC. You'd have to hear it to believe it. I'm not much into speakers but I'm about to upgrade my 20 € nonames to these.

Koss Porta Pro Classic for headphones for an old iPod Nano from 2008 Unfortunately I had to throw away my mini-stereo a few years back during a move because: 1, the control refused to work properly 2, had to make space in the bookshelf

I primarily use SkullCandy Jibs earphones, they're cheap ($9) but have decent sound quality and good bass. I have a pair of Beats (Solo 1), but the SkullCandy's are more convenient on the go, I prefer the Beats for longer trips. I also have a JBL Flip speaker that was free when I purchased my previous iPhone, it sounds good but I hardly use it.

I'm using a surprisingly good Logitech 5.1 speaker setup. I've had it for twelve years and it still sounds amazing.
Headphones, I'm using AKG K240 MKII.

I have an old rusty beaten Philips FW330 stereo from the 90's, but excellent Pioneer CS-363 speakers from the 70's.

Oh, what's the matter with headphones? I still feel pain in the air after a few minutes, though I haven't tried expensive headphones yet. Edit: Pain in the air, lol.

Is it because they're physically uncomfortable and chafing on sore ears or is it the sound you're sensitive to? I don't really understand the difference between headphones and speakers if it's the sound you're sensitive to, I mean isn't sound always sound? I'm just curious sorry, not doubting you or anything. Btw, I celebrated New Year's in Berlin once and totally get it. Unlike in Sweden there's no noise restriction so the crackers literally sound like gunfire and bombs. Sounded like a bloody war field. I'm really sorry that you got injured because of it.

I'm really sorry that you got injured because of it. It's the sound I'm sensetive to, after a few minutes everything sounds increasingly more annoying and eventually my ear really hurts. Afterwards everything sounds muffled for a few hours. That doesn't happen with speakers at normal volume but also in clubs (sometimes I even get tinnitus). Yeah, Germany becomes a warzone at New Year. I try to avoid big crowds that night.

I have a pair of these: www.nubert.de/nuline-34/p1112/?category=3Quality speakers I would say and miles ahead of the Logitech set I had before. >Yeah, Germany becomes a warzone at New Year. I try to avoid big crowds that night. Yup. Not a big fan of New Year's eve here. A cracker exploded close to my ears and since that day I suffer from severe tinnitus.

Headphones. They are a bit cheap because I bought some expensive ones before, which actually broke after less than one year.

My EarPods recently broke yet again. I decided to try Panasonic ErgoFit which cost just $8 on Amazon and got good reviews. www.amazon.com/Panasonic-RP-HJE120-PPK-Stereo-Earphones-Black/dp/B003EM8008They are good for the price, but the bass is noticeably lacking in comparison, and they’re also not as physically comfortable to me. The music somehow seems a bit further away. Trying to decide if I should just live with it, or splurge for another Apple pair.

Now I have Apple EarPods again due to getting a new iPhone. They sound better, especially the bass like I said, but the difference isn’t dramatic. As the Apple ones have notoriously poor durability, I’ll probably reserve them for use at home and keep taking the Panasonics on the go.

They're really good for the price, would buy again when they finally break. The only way i can get good bass is if I push them deep into my ears but I haven't had any earbuds that didn't need that for good sound. I have not tried any mid-level or high-end earbuds though.
