Today's picture, showing the sun for the first time in nearly a week after the dullest April week recorded since 1971. A few patches of lingering strato-cumulus are evident, and leaf blooming is still several weeks behind the normal "schedule".

Just a couple of pictures from this rainy week: These were the two sunnier moments of the week, in Tuesday and Friday afternoon in Turin: This is the entrance of my valley as seen from a train. In days with a really clear sky you can see many more mountains in the background and the view is much better than this. Still a lot of snow on the mountains, and looking closely a lot of small and localised avalanches are visible all over the highest part of the mountain sides. It's still really cloudy too, today was supposed to be sunny...

What are the trees in pic 4? Locusts?
Paris still looks as dead as here.

Went to our summer cabin yesterday. A met some reindeer. At first we thought we'd let them go off into the woods, so we crept behind them for like 5-10 minutes until we gave up and decided to overtake them. As we did, however, they started fucking dragracing us, and one of them, who kept going when the others had given up, was still running parallel to us at 60kph. Then, literally one minute later we got onto a forest dirt road that would take us to the cabin. And lo and behold, there we found another group of reindeer. Look at the snow walls being taller than the reindeer. This time neither overtaking them, nor waiting for them to step off the road was an option. We simply had to creep behind them going 10kph for like 2-3km... Loo. Not the most perfectly framed shot but yoy can kinda see part of the family in their Swedish sun pits, a sauna, and the woods where our cabin lies. And I have no idea why they're wearing so much clothing. It was 12'C and I was sweating in just a t-shirt.

The clouds have lifted as the edge of the rain front passes to the North.

I would be sick and tired of winter by now. How do you cope?

I would be sick and tired of winter by now. How do you cope? Like most residents of Edmonton I am here primarily because of work. Nobody moves to Edmonton because of the weather. That said, summers here are nice: at least as warm and certainly a lot sunnier than almost anywhere in England. (I realize that's setting the bar rather low.)
