Lommaren Haven't you got anything better to do, than to waste my time by tagging me for the viewing of some petty Swedish "storms", and worse yet, publicly showing off your arse-kissing finesse in the very same post? I thought you've moved on from me already...blimey no, it appears that I'm terribly mistaken yet again! Bugger me sideways.

I just saw the first lightning and heard the first thunder, something tells me this will be massive The main part might miss Nyköping though.

We're having our second thunderstorm in two days this morning. Also a whole bunch of rain, by far our biggest, steadiest, longest-lasting rainfall of the year. It's a very welcome interruption to the drought conditions we've been having

Impressive storm! We do get storms like that on occasion, though this particular one would definitely be stronger than average (I'm very skeptical that this is "tame" by Yellowknife standards). We rarely get storms when there's snow on the ground out here, snow usually melts in late March/early April and first storms are typically in May (though on rare occasions they can happen earlier).

This is from the N. part of Turin metro area yesterday afternoon: At a first sight it can seem a little out of season, but that was actually a quite remarkable amount of small hail. It looks like they got a quite large storm in yesterday, in particular regarding the amount of rain and hail. Today instead it looks like Bologna and other large cities in the same region (like Modena) had even worse storms. Because of the larger hail, strong wind etc... they had about 30 injured people. This is Modena today: While this was Bologna

Hailstorm today, caught in it on the way to a mate's house. Really small hail so it looked like snow while falling: In my hand: The cell that dropped the hail moving away from me:

Nice lightning show from a t-storm to my south. Nearly constant strikes. It’s not moving my way...

We got a bunch more rain overnight, we'll have to wait to until tomorrow to get the official number from Environment Canada but I wouldn't be surprised if it was enough to push our monthly total over the 80mm mark (we're currently at 76.9mm).

Nice convective t-storms this afternoon with areas west of Alexandria hardest hit. The airport picked up 1.32" of rain (I got 0.37"). Here's a pic I got right before a nice CTG strike.

I got woken up around 4:15 this morning by a thunderstorm that rolled through. It was a small cell but packed a hell of a punch, lots of extremely bright cloud-to-ground lightning with extremely loud thunder claps (loud enough that it woke me up despite the fact that I sleep with earplugs). We've got more potential thunderstorms in the forecast the next couple of days (including one that's heading toward us right now), and after that it's more or less the end of the storm season, especially since we're heading back into cooler-than-average weather for the next couple weeks.
It was a pretty good storm season this year so far, better than the last couple years for sure.

Not the best day for outdoors activities in Southern Sweden to say the least (I had to hide from a random storm inside an apartment house I previously lived):
