Nice gravedig, but that's nuts! 16'C (61'F) at 3 am in November here in Wisconsin. If the front hadn't come through bringing, well, actually seasonable weather, the low could have been 15'C that day. The previous day's high was 14'C and it had dropped down to 9'C by 7 pm...until gusty winds started coming in from the southwest and brought the temperature up to 18'C at midnight which was the high for both days. This was November 10-11, 2012.

Rochester was 66 (19 c) from 2-3 AM on January 15, 1995. That’s like 50 f above average for the hour. I didn’t experience that but that’s pretty amazing.
Some more recent ones I have experienced:
64 f (18 c) from 2-4 AM on February 25, 2017
76 f (24 c) from 2-3 AM on October 8, 2017
74 f (23 c) from 4-5 AM on October 9, 2018
66 f (19 c) at 3 AM and 67 f at 5 AM on December 24, 2015
31 f (-1 c) at 2 PM on May 9, 2020
In Fort Collins:
September 8, 2020 had temps hovering between 33-35 f (1-2 c) all afternoon. It didn’t get above 35 f any time after 4:40 AM.

Thanksgiving 2019. 60 at 11 am, then rain came in and it stayed around 50 starting at 1 pm. Also weirdly cold 42 low.

GlacierX posted some places that saw extremely cold weather in January 1950. Here is the climate box for Vavenby...look at the record lows! Averages and record high are similar to me, but that record low . The all-time record for Milwaukee is close to the March and November record for Vavenby.

Do our winter cold snaps count? -25C in the middle of the afternoon is always a fun time...

Do our winter cold snaps count? -25C in the middle of the afternoon is always a fun time... I guess? -25C is absurd to most people, and the title of the thread is "absurd temps". This thread turned into a thread about extreme temperatures instead. So...Maybe -25C in a fall or spring month? An afternoon temp of -35 in winter? I assume you get -25 during the day every winter, so it wouldn't be as rare as some of these posts.

Helsinki Centre recorded a high of -30.7C on 9 January 1987 and a -30.4C high the day after. At first glance it might not seem that weird, because January and Finland, but those are the only -30C highs recorded in the station's history with records back to 1845, and since January 1987 the station hasn't even recorded a single -30C low. All in all, Helsinki Centre has seen 19 January days with a -30C low, of which 6, or 32%, were in January 1987.
So I guess it's both extreme and absurd.

Saskatoon's averages are -8.8/-18.9 at the university and -10.1/-20.7 at the airport, so I would consider -25 during the day to be outside the norm, but it is very possible to see that and colder as made apparent by the records.

Here's another instance of absurd temperatures in Rome, which I remember well. Disregard the rain/snow report, but on May 15th, in 2019, it was 48°F at 3 PM, with rain for virtually the entire day, that's almost 25°F below average for the time of the day! www.wunderground.com/history/daily/it/rome/LIRA/date/2019-5-15The 52.3°F high is also the coldest on record for May.

That's disgusting! That would even be considered crappy for our climate in mid-May. Coincidentally, May 19, 2019 is the latest in the year I've seen a high below 10'C.

Probably the 18.5c/15.1c on 4th November 2010, with a run of 1.5c, 1.6c, 1.5c highs from 27-29th November 2010.

In Lincolnshire one day last summer, the temperature was 22c at 22:00, but rose to 32c by 22:10, and back to 22c by 22:20.

That's nuts! Sounds to me like the December record is pretty weak then.

Can't think of specific events, but there are instances in the summer where mornings are hotter than the afternoons - I mean those odd days where the highest temperature is recorded at 10am (say like 29C), and later on the temperature slowly starts to decrease and things would feel cool until the end of the day (22C-20C). I don't think that this is a southerly buster (as they come late in the afternoon when the temperature is over 35C). Perhaps it's a normal seabreeze? But either way, it's really bizarre.
