Indeed, I like cold continental climates. I'd call Chicago a balanced climate rather than a cold climate, however. I know most disagree with me.
I agree with you. Chicago is a 4 season climate with pretty equal seasons, albeit with slightly longer summers. Colder climates would be like Montreal, which has 5 months of winter instead of 3.

Chicago, but the NYC area as a whole would be a close second. The only thing bad about NYC are that the lows are too warm making summer nights too hot and reducing snowfall significantly, and that gets fixed by moving into Putnam or Sussex county an hour away. I like the summer highs in NYC more.
