Sunshine hours for Saskatoon are in, and we had 98.2 in January. That's more than I was expecting, but that gloomy spell in the middle of the month definitely made its mark - we had six consecutive days with zero sunshine (and the day before that started had only 0.3 hours).

Monsoon season in Auckland I guess. Seriously such a shit summer month. January 2023 broke three all time records: -Wettest month on record (478.4mm) -Wettest day on record (258mm on January 27th at Auckland Mangere) -Cloudiest January on record Downtown Auckland recorded 539mm for the month, which broke the previous monthly record of 420mm from February 1869. My other location for the month: Our car was completely flooded and wrecked during the January 27th rain event while I was overseas in NSW . That month can get fucked.

Toyota's are indestructable. Hopefully the insurance will make good for you. Hope it all works out for you man. This is probably a dick move here on my part asking, but what was the climate in at the western stations on the South Island of NZ?

January 2023 Summary for Madison, WIThe 8th warmest January on record for Madison, with an anomaly of over 9 F (!) and a mean temp of -2.8 C: warm enough to qualify as subtropical under the Koppen -3 C threshold! (That still doesn't negate the fact it was cold as hell though.) Overall, it was a quite stable month; the monthly range was less than 30 F until a cold blast came in starting late in the fourth week. The month had six lows of 32 F (0 C) or above and more rain than is typical for January (including nearly half an inch on the 3rd), and we got only 1.4" from the snowstorm on the 19th that brought higher totals farther north (3.7" in my old hometown of Appleton) - but we still finished above average for snowfall due to the big event on the 28th-29th! Also notable is that it was a quite cloudy month; I'd estimate only about 70 hours of sunshine, and there were 14 days in the month (including 7 in a row) with 100% average cloud cover according to the NWS. The Year So FarThe cloudiness didn't bother me much; the stability in temps started to get on my nerves after a while though. Still, it was a much warmer and significantly wetter month than average - both good things - so I'll consider it decent overall, as the pattern of good months the entire time since I moved to Madison in August continues.

January 2023 was a whopping 11 F above average, warmest on record for KFWN (data back to 2000) but there is another station (Sussex 1 NW NJ) with older data and January 2023 surpassed the record of January 1950.

The Summary Of January At Sheffield 2023
January was mercifully a milder than average winter month, with the mean temperature 1.3°C above average. The first half was very wet, with rain every day, and also very mild, with many days above 10°C. There was a very short cold spell 16th-22nd, in which most of the frosts and the only one day of snow occurred. It was the least snowiest January in my records. The weather was dry from mid-month until month-end, due to an anti-cyclone which built over the country especially in the latter part of the month. It seemed like a much sunnier than average month.
You would be correct:

January 2023 was the first January in OKC to go the first three weeks without having a single high below 50°F (10°C). It was running near-record warm during the first three weeks, but thankfully we got some cold air near the end of the month to help balance things out. We had a nice little snow on the 24th, where I measured about 2.5" (6.3 cm) at my apartment, but sadly that was the only appreciable winter weather we had. We did have a small amount of sleet and freezing rain at the end of the month that had some impacts because of how cold it was, but it was not enough to really make things look pretty.
