This might've been done before (if it was, mods shall merge this thread), but I'll start a thread for it anyway. Which year has your favorite month by month in the climate you currently live in? January 1950: February 2023: March 2012: April 2017: May 2019: June 2010: July 1952: August 1988: September 1980: October 2007: November 1985: December 2015: Most of these are the warmest months on record - while the winter months are slightly above my dream climate's averages, they'd feel great in-between normal or below-normal months.

January 1979; very cold and quite snowy, epic month. There were months that are colder, but they were just much less snowy. February 1936; no explanation needed. Epic cold, coldest month on record in fact. And much above normal snowfall. March 1965; again, no explanation needed. Snowiest month on record and exceptionally cold by March standards, more like an average February. April 2018; cold, snowy, variable. Everything I want in a spring month. May 1925; cooler than average and quite variable. Especially going from a 91 F high to a high of 42 F the next day with snow. Probably could've chosen a wetter May, but wet months during the high sun season tend to be boring and stable. June 1990; wet and decently variable for a summer month. July 1949; wet and decently variable, with a nice heat spike early in the month. August 1950; way drier than a summer month that I would want, but that temp swing in mid-August was epic. Plus with the wet June and July, I'd be OK with a dry and quite cool August. September 1942; cool with the earliest accumulating snow on record, epic cold snap at the end of the month. Very nice. October 2002; quite a cold and snowy October. Both second coldest and second snowiest October on record. November 1940; snowiest November on record and quite cold. Epic cold snap with highs in the single digits at the end of the month. Fantastic month. Honorable mention to November 1911 which was the 2nd snowiest November on record and was colder than this one. Two-way tie between December 1983 and December 1927. Both absolutely epic months.

This was actually really hard as most months had 3-5 that were excellent and I had to really nitpick to pick one. Anyway here’s what I came up with. EDIT: the other months are in a spoiler inside the February spoiler for some reason Honorable mention = HM January 2014: > Had a lot of mild days, some big temp swings and a few heavy snows. < February 2015 (HM 1918, 1976, 1990, 1995) > This was very close, but I went with 2015 for slightly more solid snowfalls < March 1974 (HM 1997, 2009, 2022) > Nice generally mild month with a decent snowfall and some variability < April 2005 (HM 1942, 1977, 2020, 2021) > A couple heavy snows, rain and good temps < May 1908 (HM 2001, 2017, 2021) > Excellent month, had more variability than the other Mays, a heavy snow, lots of precipitation and a big temp swing < June 1902 (HM 2004) > Lots of variability for a summer month, some hot days and some cool days. A bit drier than I’d prefer but I picked it over 2004 due to the increased variability and that the cool days have less precipitation. < July 1990 (HM 1973) > Was surprisingly hard to find a cool July that got a good heatwave. This is drier than ideal but there’s plenty of precipitation days so I’m assuming there were still lots of storms. > August 1972 (HM 2008) > This was nearly a tie, 2008 had a better heatwave but also had a 60 f high which is a bit too cool and more upper 80s/90s so I went with this month. Nice variability and a lot of storms. < September 2020 > This was the only no brainer. Fantastic month with everything you could ask for—record heat, earliest snowfall ever, huge temp swing. Also warm and dry on the whole as September should be. < October 1917, 1926, 1975, 1991, 1997 or 2020 True tossup here, so many good Octobers. Warm and dry with a cold snap at the end with heavy snow and a few drizzly days. Apparently not a hard combo to get here. These are all so good and similar I can’t pick one. I’ll update this if I’m able to decide. November 1995 (HM 1967) > 1967 had more snow and variability but also too many cold days. 1995 was a nice mild month with some cold snaps, snow and drizzle and variability. < December 1998 (HM 1941, 1975, 2014) > Could’ve been snowier but had an epic temp change I couldn’t overlook and was generally mild. Still had a few decent snows. <
