Stornoway for being âwarmerâ and getting proper cold winter rains.

Both are awful, but having worked in RĂo Grande, Tierra del Fuego (near Punta Arenas) and having experienced a sub-freezing low in December down there, I go with Stornoway.

Another thing about the Magellan steppe is that the odd +20C days are usually the windiest. So you say âoh finally some warm days are comingâ, only to face 70-80 km/h constant winds hitting you all day long. However, I have to say that the sound of wind and the feeling of windows and structures vibrating throughout the night had some charm. I expect Stornoway to be similarly windy, although I donât know how intensity and temperature correlates.

I think I'll have to go for the sunshine and less rain/rain days here.

Stornoway for being slightly warmer throughout the year, though the choice can be equated to choosing between eating cyanide and being set on fire.
