Would you rather live in a climate with long and mild winters like in Patagonia, or a climate with short but cold winters like in South Korea and the East coast of the US.

Long, mild winters. So long garden plants are safe. Cold winters, short or not, still mean lower hardiness zone (detrimental to plant life), and frigid conditions with east coast US style polar vortexes...ukhh!

Short but cold winters are better. Snow and freezing temps should only be possible during two months of the year.

Short but colder winters, depends on the difference between the two options though. Spring seasonal lag drives me mental.

Depends on what’s considered mild vs cold Mild winter = mean temps between 2C and 8C Long winter = lasting from November to March Cold winter = mean temps below -3C Short winter = lasting from December to February |
