Two of the most extreme climates in the world. There are no places warmer in winter than Flores at 39°N or S in the world; while there is to my knowledge no other place at Choibalsan's 48°N latitude that beats it for sunshine. At the same time this has grave consequences; Flores is extremely cloudy for its latitude, but at least at such a low latitude that cloud cover brings a lot of days of heavy rain (and sometimes thunderstorms). Choibalsan on the other hand is semi-arid; the only significant precipitation coming in summer. In winter the clear nights bring extreme cold to the area, while the cold bias prevents the days from rising above -14°C avg highs in January. Summers are very pleasant though, and for me those still make it a D- climate compared to A- for Flores. Choibalsan has way better summers than Flores, but -20°C means in winter as a rule rather than an exception ain't cool for me. Flores might have too much rain for me and in reality is too cloudy, but it still has guaranteed pleasant weather during sunny days, and has stunning green surroundings.

Not a fair comparison for poor Choibalsan (it's not that bad really), but Flores is sunny enough and it's a beautiful subtropical island. I love steppe landscapes such as those found in Mongolia, China, and Russia though.

Flores is disgusting. Choibalsan is MUCH better. It’s actually not bad.

CHOIBALSANFlores is an F climate (though not F– due to precipitation). Still much better than Honolulu, at least!

This one actually took some thinking for once. Suicide sunshine hours, or suicide winter?
I think Flores, fuck those winters in Chiobass. Once winters get to a point where the fluids in your car freeze, fuck that.

Oh man, this is tough. Flores' sunshine hours make me want to commit suicide. But so does an annual mean barely above freezing. I guess I have to give the edge to Flores. Not much value in sunshine if it's too cold to go outside for most of the year.
I wish Flores had Choibalsan's sunshine, then it would be a solid A climate! 😃

Changing vote to Choibalsan. It has a winter, whereas the Portuguese one doesn't. Pitiful range of temperatures in Flores.

Flores is at least 10°C warmer than Vancouver in winter and therefore the rain is not cold! I think Vancouver PTSD might have influenced the flipping!

^ Didn't Candle live in Iqaluit at one point? There was a C-D poster who did.
Choibalsan is too dry, but it's probably not that bad most days with the sunshine. Flores is too wet and consistent, but it's better.

Choibalsan is preferable even though it's far too dry. Flores Island makes me wanna take a nap by looking at the temperature data.
