In La Liga, clubs like Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and to a lesser degree Celta Vigo, usually manage to consistently be good, even if they don't win any trophies

Not yet Minutes applause for a deceased former player prior to the match, he famously put us into the lead against Man United in the 90's, although the end result was predictable

I'd say the top 10 of the BPL right now is easily better than the current top 10 in Spain.

Premier League have six clubs good enough for the Last 16 of the CL, Spain has five but Italy just two. Kind of embarassing. They also can't wait to trip over themselves in the Europa against random Eastern European teams too.

I'd say it's about even at this point, EPL is having a good year right now, but remember that until this year La Liga dominated both the CL and the EL. Celta Vigo made it to the Semis in Europa League last year and gave Manchester United a good fight, but they finished 13th in La Liga. Also EPL outside the top-6 is really inconsistent, you could root for Burnley this year, and they could easily get relegated the next one

It's clear that La Liga and EPL are on a completely different level right now

Who would've thought a club like Newcastle could go down twice in a decade for example? When I was 12 they were battling Inter and Barcelona fair and square to go through to the Last 8 of the Champions League. Two years prior before my time, Leeds drew Valencia 0-0 in the first CL semis before slumping to a defeat at Mestalla. Three years later they were gone.

It's good for charm, but not good for foreign fans looking for a "small" team to root for Also it's a personal reason, but I think small clubs in La Liga are a lot more charming. I love all those small Basque and Catalan clubs

The vast amounts of TV money, which are distributed relatively evenly throughout the 20 teams, as opposed to the flawed trickle down approach in La Liga, is starting to have a positive impact. The fact that a team like Leciester can quickly go from relegation candidates to champions is surely a good thing?

EPL also knows how to market itself, which La Liga sucks at. The marketing is shitty enough that even a team that makes the CL final two times in three years is considered a "hipster" team They really have no idea how to market non-Barca/Real teams

It's because the entire Spanish football system is geared towards maintaining the dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona. I won the league six times in a row with Celta on FM and all out of a sudden I cracked "the code" after those years and got more TV money than those two since the game thought I was them
