Similar latitude, but oh the difference... Rijeka wins it for me. Superior in every season. Also adequately sunny, within the lower end of my perfection range. Pierre likely has slightly more sun, but use is that between November and March? Also that it likely fails to contain a persistent snowpack due to the heat spikes with the strong winter sun isn't good at all if we're talking -1/-12 averages.

Pierre for better winters and less rediculous rainfall.

Rijeka for the higher rainfall and lower sunshine hours.

PIERRE
It’s a B vs. an E+

Pierre. It's like an improved Kansas City. Great Plains climates really aren't that bad once you're out of the humid-hell zone.

Rijeka. Even though Pierre has the nicer summers, the winters are fucked.

Rijeka is pretty nice by European standards.

Pierre. Spot on highs year-round. Would be better with 4°C warmer lows year-round and more precip, but at least the precipitation pattern is right. There's no purpose in Rijeka's 1500 mm annual rainfall when the vegetation it's able to sustain is still the usual Mediterranean crap due to a failed precip pattern.

Rijeka is lovely, it reminds me of a lusher version of Toulouse, or of yalta and Sochi. Solid B, a bit mild in winter and too damp in autumn
Pierre is too continental, arid, and extreme for me. C- or D+ I guess. Winter seems pretty boring with the low snow total.

Rijeka is really really good for latitudes over 44.5N although Trieste is better. Of course Bordeaux is really good for the latitude as well. A bit further south would be Genoa and Nice, which always seem impressive for the latitude to me. Trieste seems equally impressive now.
Pierre is at 442m so it's not a direct comparison although it's still a big difference. The NE USA or Manchuria would be an even larger difference. Of course I choose Rijeka.

Pierre, more exciting summer and much better winter with a chance of extreme weather all year.
