Not bad for being in Northern Michigan. Sadly, spring warmup is exceptionally bad, which cancels out the fantastic summers. I like the idea of a regular snowpack throughout winter, without being either brutally cold nor having Houghton-esque levels, which spares it dropping a grade. While Green Bay is slightly worse than my climate, this one is actually slightly better. C-

A-
Not much to change here other than slightly warmer summer nights (18C) and more summer rain, which would bump this to A+ territory.

A, by inland standards. Warmer winter highs and more winter sun would've made it an A+.

A-
A tad too sunny (even accounting for inflated US sunshine totals) but overall very nice. Pleasant summers and solid winters.

I find this one interesting in particular due to the high summer diurnals by Michigan standards, even in spite of being near Lake Huron. The airport station like this one is not on the shoreline unlike the downtown station that shows 25/15 summers and -2/-10 winters, in other words somewhat milder. I'd probably like that one a little better, but either way, the region definitely has some interesting climates being locked between several large lakes obviously!

Alpena is on the shores of Lake Huron, but it's on the eastern side of Michigan which is the more continental side of the state. Charlevoix is about the same distance north on the west side along Lake Michigan. Smaller diurnals (12/4 vs 12/1), more precipitation (825 mm vs 715), and the wettest month is October instead of August. Charlevoix, Michigan ClimateI give Alpena an A, it's a good four-season climate with lots of snow and comfortable summers. Spring could be a few degrees warmer, especially at night. The snow amount compared to the precipitation amount is good, it doesn't get large amounts of rain in the winter. And I prefer it to Charlevoix. Edit: you have a battle for Charlevoix too? oh.
