which do you like better? Choosing Ithaca over Binghamton as the Ithaca station is at a less biased elevation, near where most live in both cities. Shenyang: Ithaca: Ithaca gets milder, cloudier winters with a lot more snow. Much more comfortable and sunnier summers, here's sunshine data for upstate NY from www.newyorkupstate.com/weather/2016/11/upstate_ny_cities_among_cloudiest_in_the_us.htmlOverall I pick Ithaca, more interesting winters and more pleasant months. Ithaca has an annoying late spring warm-up though

Shenyang. Better summers and I'm guessing more sunshine. Quicker spring warmup despite the colder winters.

Shenyang is better in every way, except that it's less snowy but it's cold enough that it doesn't need loads of snow (i.e. less melting).

Ithaca, fucken!Much better diurnals, precipitation/storms, squallier and overall more favourable by a weather enthusiast. Also, fresh snowfall>>>>>old snowpack (Swedish-style snowpack)

Ithaca:
Milder, more snow, less wet summers, comfortable summer lows = winner.

Shenyang. Better summers and I'm guessing more sunshine. Quicker spring warmup despite the colder winters. Ithaca has sunnier summers; rest of the year cloudier, but the difference is only huge in early winter when Ithaca drops below 30%. Guessing Shenyang has 300-400 more hour total.

Still going with Shenyang but it's close.

Shenyang - its better summers outweigh its colder winters and it's got a faster spring warmup, which is a plus

Ithaca for the drier, sunnier summers and "milder" wetter winters. It should presumably have less snow cover too, due to thaws not likely in Shityang.

Shenyang because spring is the most important season and nothing else matters in continental climates

Like choosing between leukemia and lymphoma. I guess Ithaca for the milder summers.

A hard choice, as both climates have their faults and upsides in different ways. However, I choose Shenyang (C-) over Ithaca (D+) for more thunderstorms, not having 163.3 cm of snow in winter (that's excessive), more sunshine (excluding summer) and less seasonal lag.
