Heusden-Zolder is Belgium's in my opinion best climate after doing some research on their Met Office registry. Averages can't be found in English so it has to go through either Dutch or French, so I think that's why Belgium's been underrepresented on the English Wikipedia and having a lot of nonsense numbers in weatherboxes. I've tried to do something about it and actually found that climate I sort of like in the north of Flanders (Vlaandern), the Dutch-speaking part of the country. Heusden-Zolder has hosted the Belgian Grand Prix and road cycling world championships in the past, which is why I recognized the name and looked for it. Summer highs are warmer than London, whereas winters are cooler and as you can see February even averages low just below freezing. As for San Francisco, there's not much to add, it's obviously sunnier, milder and with a strong seasonal lag and a mediterranean precipitation pattern. Main difference between these two is the amount of total sunshine they receive and latitude/sun strength, biggest similarity is that both are influenced by west coast patterns. Just like Maastricht vs Portsmouth this is almost a dead heat again, but I go with Heusden-Zolder for better summers. July would drive me insane in San Francisco. <iframe width="21.32000000000005" height="6.02000000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 21.32000000000005px; height: 6.02000000000001px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 197px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_35114874" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.32000000000005" height="6.02000000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 21.32px; height: 6.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 998px; top: 197px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_89412593" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.32000000000005" height="6.02000000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 21.32px; height: 6.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 440px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_61593742" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.32000000000005" height="6.02000000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 21.32px; height: 6.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 998px; top: 440px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_63894877" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Heusden-Zolder, but they're both boring shitholes.

Since they're both boring they're better off being used against each other in a climate battle rather than having a rate Heusden-Zolder thread. During climate battles I try and construe even battles which this evidently is so far

Heusden-Zolder deifnitely wins for its name, that's for sure. Climate wise - no idea. HZ has too much cold for me and is cloudy. It does however get slightly warmer weather in summer and a few thunderstorms.
SF has mild winters, a much longer warm season (and is much warmer when you get a bit further inland) and a lot more sun. SF just gets my vote.

Super boring and "comfortable" and then out of nowhere it can be scorching hot. It's a gayer version of Melbourne, if that's even possible.

San Francisco. Both are shithouse though. Atleast with SF, much better climates are only minutes away.

Vancouver ain't that great but at least we get snow mate. and we get summer so I guess it cancels out in the end Tell that to Beercules Melbourne's summers can be nice and are on average "nicer" than Vancouver, but are susceptible to schizophrenic temperature swings, which is not what you want in an idyllic summer. Sydney is the same but is less affected by the Southerlies of course.

Heusden-Zolder easily for the cooler temperatures, lower sunshine, and higher precipitation. San Francisco is comfortable, but a sunny snoozefest in comparison.

Shouldn't San Francisco get interesting points for fog rolling in and out? Exciting to watch, especially on the hillsides. Temperatures aren't the only way for a climate to be exciting. Heusden-Zolder isn't particularly exciting; lot of drizzle and gloom and stuck in chilly but not mild or wintry for a long time.

Unfortunately, the fact is that Melbourne offers very little for anyone who wants a proper summer, proper winter, or severe weather. You have half the year with stratocrapulus domination and little variation in temps, the other half a half-assed summer loaded with cold fronts and seabreezes, and little in the way of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winter cold outbreaks.
Like all maritime climates, it's a weather enthusiast's purgatory.

Too much boring weather there for one cool aspect to make it interesting. At least Heusden-Zolder sees some snow in winter, and some thunderstorms in summer. Though definitely a boring climate on it's own too.

Vancouver and SF yeah are far worse. Those summer swings were the main thing that pissed me off, that's the exact reason which robs the place of a proper summer. One or two 35-40C days followed by low 20's and stratus, the fact that there's more days under 25C than over 30C, fuck that.
