One of the absolutely coldest non-subarctic climates in the world. Doesn't save it from an F+ from me though: pulling through five months each year colder than I've ever experienced a full month to be like (-5/-13) with bone-chilling days, let alone nights, only to then receive a sub-standard summer from where I live now... Nah. In my book this is the worst climate above subarctic in the whole world and so many actual subarctic climates are better than this. Don't get me wrong though, 53ยฐN and frequent sun along with actual summers still makes it better than dreadful climates like Kiruna and Rovaniemi up in the far northern interior Nordics. Almost 300 cm of snow per year (likely estimation) also makes it a better place than dry cold stuff like Yakutsk. The weak spring warm up and summer maritime influence as a result of the Okhotsk Sea is the real deal-breaker for me. <iframe width="21.340000000000032" height="7.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.34px; height: 7.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 149px;" id="MoatPxIOPT1_63131443" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.340000000000032" height="7.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.34px; height: 7.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 999px; top: 149px;" id="MoatPxIOPT1_140169" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.340000000000032" height="7.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.34px; height: 7.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 458px;" id="MoatPxIOPT1_783197" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="21.340000000000032" height="7.360000000000014" style="position: absolute; width: 21.34px; height: 7.36px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 999px; top: 458px;" id="MoatPxIOPT1_75392237" scrolling="no"></iframe>

F+ for me too, the extra sunshine and the summers that are barely better than what I get are nowhere near enough to make up for those winters. Nov-Feb would be a write-off straight away, March might be bearable in the sunshine in the afternoons, late April/early May is probably mud season.
The precip totals in the winter are pretty high for that kind of cold, so I'm guessing it does at least get some decent snowstorms as well as summer thunderstorms.

No it's not knot . Snow accumulates a lot more when it's very cold. Therefore my estimation of monthly snowfall would look like this: Jan: 46 cm Feb: 45 cm Mar: 34 cm Apr: 15 cm May: 5 cm Sep: 1 cm Oct: 19 cm Nov: 55 cm Dec: 57 cm That would in turn result in 277 cm of snowfall annually, far from what I'd call a cold desert. In addition, that snow sticks around so the non-plowed places would essentially look like a glacier with deeper snow than Tavelsjรถ in March 2018 once April arrives Average snow depth in early April would probably be 180-190 cm. Does that change Whรถler's perception of this climate?

E-.
Looks like a wetter, laggier version of Fairbanks.

Certainly not; this is how I label a cold fucken desert; the colder it is, the more precipitation I expect there to fall: A midwinter range of โ5.4ยฐ C / โ2.4ยฐ C (Bird Island, sea-level + 54ยฐ S) does plenty good with only 600-1,200 mm of annual precipitation, whereas a midwinter range of โ17.5ยฐ C / โ25.6ยฐ C (this shithole) will require at least 4,000 mm of annual precipitation, accentuated chiefly on winter. Dry cold is a fucken nightmare for me

4,000 mm of annual precipitation focused mainly on winter with -18/-26 average is a hell of a lot of snow! How much snow do you think that would be?
I give this climate a C+, six months of the year (mid October through mid April) is pretty epic, while the other six months are too cold and dry. Snowfall totals look like they'd be really good, and it probably gets decent variety of weather throughout the year.

I'll give it an E+. Way too cold year round, but summer is at least comfortable.

This is an E for me. Summers are comfortable but not warm enough and the rest of the year is way too cold, especially those winters.

I love cold when it is damp at the same time; the type of cold that cuts right through you; with high winds, high humidity and heavy cloud. You can't even fucken notice the dry cold when wearing a heavy jacket, which is boring and not fun/extreme enough.

Quite bad. You would expect the summers to be warmer with those brutal winters. And those winters are even moderated by the sea of Okhotsk lol. I would prefer places with colder winters like Kyzyl or Ulaangom over this disaster. At least they have warmer, longer and pleasant summers.

Knew you would like the winter but seems to be a trend that you miss ticking the vote in I'd assume there can be really heavy snow too given the proximity to the Okhotsk Sea, if you look at Google Maps it's essentially in an inlet just where the sea turns into the Amur river. Therefore I'd guess it can get brief Hokkaido-style hammerings of snowfall. It's one of the closest thing in the real world to a Winter Haven winter at least. Summers though I agree, the less said about 21/12 for two months straight as peak summer, the better.

C. Good precipitation and sunshine, it would get more than enough snow and cold for winter sports. Summers are mild and wet enough to get some storms, trees, and plants. But it's too cold in all months--adding about 5C to summer and 10 to winter would make it an A climate

E. I'd need a lot of vodka to make it through a year in that climate, both the brutally cold winters and the pathetically weak summers.

E.
Really shitty summers, though at least sunshine hours are semi-acceptable, so it's above the subarctic maritime hellhole climates with sub-1000 sunshine hours.
