Inspired by EverBlack and the host of a major metal festival each Christmas, but with some interesting twists: * Mediterranean paradise confirmed, just look at May and June. * Higher diurnals than Faroe Islands in winter, as a result of the island being a bit larger and having more cold air stacking up inland, influencing overnight lows a little bit, even though frosts and snowfall are restricted, and numbers inflated by the sea effect only. * Each month have warmer temp records than the summer avg highs. * Köppen claims this one is a Csb climate * Well and truly part of a drizzle belt. * It's at 66°N at the same warmer planet I use to make boxes out of, in the middle of an even stronger current than the Gulf Stream. * In summer this place is so regulated by the warm water and the midnight sun that temps so often stay constant for 24 hours basically. So, it's in winter where this climate gets a bit more interesting. At higher elevation (1,000 metres) nearby, skiing season lasts from mid-November to mid-May due to sheer accumulation with the orographic lift. My rating is E; I'd survive, but it's mind-numbingly boring, but in spite of this; I'd still take this over Reykjavík, Falklands, Kergeulen and Lerwick any day of the week.

How large is this island, BTW? From the box I'd assume it's very small, but it supposedly hosts huge rock concerts and has skiing country up at 1000m.

How large is this island, BTW? From the box I'd assume it's very small, but it supposedly hosts huge rock concerts and has skiing country up at 1000m. Think of the Faroe Islands and Shetland's combined landmass? The general population is similar to that of Reykjavík and Iceland and all concentrated into one former fishing village with very few villages aside that so no big deal really. General diurnals are also inspired by Tromsø and its nearby islands, even though it's obviously much milder. It's mainly the northern slopes used for that and the northern side of this island have a completely different climate, much like how Tenerife north of Teide is like a completely different island. At a higher latitude, this changes a lot. In summer, only southerlies really can influence with the warm water, hence the low diurnals. The ultimate peak of the island is at 1,135 metres asl and that ridge essentially divides the island straight down the middle. The north of the island is quite continental by comparison in summer: 14/7 for July, but also 3/-3 for February on the coastline, resulting in -1/-7 winters with heavy snowfall at the northern peak. The southern peak has a lot of wet snow (3/-5) and only retains lighter cover due to accumulation and the snow is very unstable, so avalanche protection devices are key. The northern end is slightly drier, but instead due to being colder receives more snow on the ground. All in all, it's not an ideal place climate-wise, but neither are Iceland and Tromsø and somehow those sustain quite decently-sized populations, and this place is way more suitable for agriculture and less fishing-dependent prior to the days of long-range goods shipment than those.

F-. Vile piece of shit. May-July look livable, but then there’s January with 27 fucking rainy days and 4 hours of sunshine.
Wait, October and November are even worse. 29 days of rain, no snow and still super cloudy.
This is an absolute nightmare.

Still to this day not sure how EverBlack could love climates like these Steelernation . That being said, is it a lesser evil than depression hotspot Tórshavn?

Still to this day not sure how EverBlack could love climates like these Steelernation . That being said, is it a lesser evil than depression hotspot Tórshavn? Slightly “better”. Torshavn gets 210 rain days >1 mm, so this place probably gets slightly less and there’s 2 decently dry months in this climate but none in Torshavn. Still both F- climates.

D+; basically nothing but useless, dry cloud for the warmer half of the year.
At least the winter is adequately moist and snowy.

Boring indeed. Temperatures are comfortable and precipitation is decent. Sunshine hours are good although even I would probably want a little more sun than this place. Increase the winter rainfall and summer temperatures and it would probably tilt into B territory.
