Happy with the result. A real game of two halves. USA dominant in the first half, Wales dominant in the 2nd. Shame we weren't more positive in the first half, I think we could have got the win.

Iran usually plays better than this. Watched their game against England this morning in Biochem class. The English looked relatively solid. Iran didn't put any fight up and seemed very undisciplined as a team, allowing for an easy English win. Im rooting for Wales to win the world cup

And USA looked decent, but I've gotta say based on the strong finish, that Wales is the better team. Consider this match a moral victory Strewthless because we choked. Thankfully the Israelis ( as is typical for their team) are not in the world cup.. Iran consistently makes an appearance.... if only the qataris and saudis can join their israeli friends in hell. |

My post had nothing to do with Israel. Just hating on the current Iranian régime 
But if you really want to get into it, yes, team Israel hasn't qualified since 1970, because Israel was expelled from the Asian Football Confederation in 1974. Why? Many of the national teams (spearheaded by Kuwait and other Arab countries, plus North fucking Korea) in the AFC refused to play matches against Israel, so they just got rid of it. This left Israel's football team as an international pariah until 1994, when it was permitted to join UEFA. UEFA is also easily the most difficult conference, hence Israel has not qualified since AFC.
Long story short, FIFA was a joke long before they accepted bribe money from autocratic host petrostates Russia and Qatar.

Tbf, Iran have a much easier route to qualification since they only have to beat Asian teams. Israel have to beat European teams to qualify. Obviously to avoid the awkwardness of Israel having to regularly play its neighbours  |

Tough loss for Canada today, despite a dominant showing against Belgium. Just couldn't take at least one of our many chances and they were clinical with few.

First Match of the Group H
Uruguay 0:0 South Korea
Unlike Saudi and Japan, miracle did not happened to South Korea, but not bad for a start considering there were more expectations to lose.
They held each other in check so well that in the end, neither team made a shot on target.
Portugal 3:2 Ghana
The first 60 minutes was bored then it turned very entertaining especially in the last minute.

Never nice to lose to late in the game, but no complaints since Iran were the better team from start to finish.
I'm still confident we'll make it out of the group when we thrash England 10-0 on Tuesday.

We need the USA to beat England tonight to give us any kind of chance of staying in. Then we'd have to beat England. Highly unlikely, but weirder things have already happened in this tournament.

Canada got badly exposed yesterday. It is what it is, at least we scored our first world cup goal. The team has made massive strides in progress over the past 3-4 years and the future looks bright.
Before that though, still a game for pride on Thursday vs Morocco.
