Would you choose winter snowfall or summer thunderstorms in a continental climate with Chicago-style seasonal swings?
Tangshan is located in Eastern China at 39°N, whereas Stehekin is in Interior Washington at 48°N, and has a mediterranean continental climate.
I'll definitely go for the snowfall and the dry, sunny summers. I can't stand dry cold without any exciting snow to wander around in. Easy win for Stehekin (B- vs E).

Tangshan for me but Stehekin has its delights too. Both are good climates.

The answer is clearly Tanghsan. Those summers cannot be ignored.

Photos I took of Stehkin. Maybe best place I've ever camped at second home? in the backcountry, 12-15 miles northwest ================================ forest understory looks lush given how dry the summers are [proabbly a bit wetter than Stehkin] much less lush where there had been a forest fire

Tangshan but barely. I hate dry summers with a passion.

Stehekin for the longer cool season and snowier winters.

Tangshan barely.
I don’t like those wet summers but it doesn’t have too many precipitation days and the wet season isn’t that long. Much more concerning are Stekhein’s winters. Assuming a 10-1 snow/water ratio, then there’s still ~2” of cold rain a month in the winter and then November is an extremely bad month with little snow and loads of cold rain.

Stehekin. I don't like the precipitation pattern in either place, but Stehekin has more comfortable summers and snowy winters, even with all the rain it gets. Tangshan is too hot and humid in summer and too dry in winter. It's cold enough to snow, but doesn't snow much. A nearby station in Washington averages 27"/69cm snow depth in February. wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?wa8059

I was originally going to go with Stehekin because I prefer to have drier summers, but after a closer look I decided to go with Tangshan. For one the winter is much shorter, and the wet season is not as long or rainy and there are more months with highs in the upper 60s F. Also Stehekin gets more snow than I could probably deal with.

Good battle. I pick Stehekin, but by a small margin.

Changing my vote to Stehekin because Tangshan is a stupid climate. Good to see that you're finally putting aside your Yellow Fever.

Tough choice, but I'll have to go with Tangshan. Even when not taking sunshine into account, I'd be annoyed having to deal with lows below 50°F in summer like in Stehekin, even when the dew points are lower; had the summers been 5°F warmer or so in the latter climate, I would have gone for it.

I think I'll have to go with Tangshan. Yes, the winters are pathetically dry, but Stehekin's summer average and record lows are wack. Both climates are just meh, though.

Stehekin is a fantastic climate, very similar temperature profile to here except its WAY snowier.

Stehekin reluctantly. Tangshan summers are humid.
