When was the earliest? I've been able to find two from September in the same year, never happened again. And weirdly we're yet to have one in the first half of October although that very nearly changed that last night. 5th October 2003 is the earliest I have found. Ogimet only goes back to 1999. Linton on Ouse closes next year too, so no more weather station for York π Christ, they seem to be closing all the stations that are somewhat interesting. Luckily my station is at an airfield which is used by airbus and other commercial interests. Should keep it relevant.

Yep, no good for me at all really as the next nearest stations are at Leeming and Topcliffe, and both places are generally a fair bit cooler than Linton. Even then, Linton is cooler than York anyway. The university has a site in York, but it's very unreliable. Bastards. I think yours will be fine for many more years then. It's a shame really as Hawarden and Linton are remarkably similar temperature wise too.

First freeze for Madison and Milwaukee last night. I guessed right.
Madison reached 0C yesterday the 12th and -2.8C (27F) this morning. Milwaukee reached 0C (32F) this morning the 13th. Average first 32F/0C is October 8th in Madison and October 22nd in Milwaukee. Madison had a night reach 33F/0.6C in late September and a few other nights come close in October but this is the first time Milwaukee was below 40F/4.4C.

The low ended up as only 36ΒΊF. There will be another chance this weekend, though.

Freeze Watch issued for tomorrow night, though weβre not actually forecasted to see a freeze. Hoping my Nov 1-15 prediction isn't off.

26th/27th October looks like the most likely dates from what I C in the forecast.

Forecast saying the 29th here, which I believe would make it the same day as last year.

Had ours this morning, same day as last year and 7 days off my prediction. It also came close to breaking our October record low. Hopefully a sign of things to come, a below average winter would be interesting.

Looks like Iβm a good deal off. Hasnβt happened yet and thereβs nothing close in the 10-day.
Latest first freeze is November 14, 1938.

Some surprise radiational cooling this morning, dropped to 32 (0 C).
Just barely guessed in the correct range.
16 days later than the 1981-2010 average but not near record setting.

We had it on 29th: -1.0Β°C.
I voted 1st-15th November, so I was wrong.

We've already had 4 here, the first being on the 8th of October with -0.2C, and the coldest being last night at -2.6C. I'm not sure if we've ever had this many in October before.
London also had it's first freeze last night, and even the south coast saw widespread frost, with temperatures down to -4.8C in Bournemouth.
