Hopefully this isn't a precursor to a much more powerful quake but I'm not optimistic.

Two other stronger earthquakes occurred in the middle of Southern Pacific Ocean somewhere between New Zealand and New Caledonia. I hope Joe90 is away from the coast. Tsunami's could be a real threat.

Time: 2021-03-20 18:09(JST) / 2021-03-20 09:09(UTC) Epicenter: Miyagi OffshoreMaximum Intensity: 5+Latitude: 38.5°NLongitude: 141.6°EMagnitude: 6.9Depth: Approximately 60km* The tsunami warning has been lifted.[Forecast of sea level change] All tsunami warnings for earthquakes originating off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture at 18:09 on the 20th were lifted at 19:30 because the tsunami was sufficiently attenuated. Some changes in sea level caused by tsunamis have been observed along these coasts, so there is a high possibility that it will continue for the next half a day. [Points of Attention] It is thought that the announcement of tsunami warnings and the observation of tsunamis are fully recognized based on the information so far. Also, it seems that the possibility of a tsunami getting higher is reduced. It is thought that sea-level fluctuations will continue for the next half a day, but if you act with full awareness of this, there is no risk of tsunami disasters, so we lifted the tsunami advisory. You need to be careful when you go into the sea, fish or swim in the sea. - Full News Coverage A Piece of News From Downtown Tokyo (Intensity 3)

22 February 2011 - Christchurch Earthquake (NZ) ↓ 15 days later 9 March 2011 - Foreshock of the Great Tohoku Earthquake ↓ 2 days later 11 March 2011 - Mainshock of the Great Tohoku Earthquake
5 March 2021 - Kermadec Islands Earthquakes (NZ) - 2 Events ↓ 15 days later 20 March 2021 - Miyagi Earthquake ↓ 2 days later 22 March 2021 - (?)
In most cases, a major earthquake occurred first in the South Pacific followed by about two to four weeks later in Japan. The pattern is similar to 10 years ago hope nothing bigger will happen.

I remember the Febraury 2008 Lincolnshire earthquake, when I happened to be living in Lincoln at the time. Was about 1AM on 27th February. This was an intra-plate earthquake due to a strike-slip fault, but an unusually strong (for the UK) magnitude 5.3. The first noises I heard, I thought it was just somebody upstairs banging about. I was about to shout at them to shut up, when the shaking started, then the building (a 6-story apartment building) started making awful banging, creaking and grinding metal noises from all directions. Having never heard an earthquake before in my life I didn't know what was going on at first, so I thought the building was undergoing some kind of weird structural failure for a few moments. Thankfully the earthquake caused no more than some minor damage and only a few injuries in one or two places, but was felt as far away as northern France and Ireland.
