Kind of a swingy forecast at Verkhoyansk, mild to start, chilly to end: Oymyakon looking a bit more stable, -58 C low to finish off the forecast! Baker Lake getting rather chilly too, to give you an idea, average high at this time of year is around -28 C to -30 C: Taloyoak looking pretty cold as well: Meanwhile, Eureka is looking a bit mild until the end of the forecast. -10 C today is much, much warmer than average for this time of year.

^Was just about to post that but I guess you beat me to it.
It looks like the summit could get close to -70c on Thurs night. Keeps trending colder.
Then again, it could be BS. Who the hell knows where the data comes from.

Two places were the coldest in Canada today at -43.6C. Stony Rapids, SK is at 59.25N, not far from the border with the Northwest Territories. It averages -20/-30 in January. Their upcoming forecast is cold but only 1 day below -40. The other place was Rivière aux Feuilles, QC. I don't think the station has climate normals yet but it looks like a very cold place. Location is 57.91° N, 72.98° W, in the middle of wilderness in northern Quebec. Satellite view shows a few buildings and an airstrip but doesn't mark it as a village. Their forecast is colder:

Still snowing in Grytviken (4 m AMSL; 54° S) next week—still midsummer: Now this is a proper polar climate!

Northern China has some surprisingly cold locations: places like Mohe average -36,2°C lows in January. Their sunlight hours are ridiculously early though, the biggest city Harbin tops out at 3:43 AM sunrises and 7:27 PM sunsets in June. What a waste.
Another fun happening: Umiat, Alaska is gonna have a thaw on Thursday and Friday. The normal February high is -26°C.

Some abnormal winter warmth in parts of Siberia this coming week, the average for Krasnoyarsk in February is -8/-17! Bit more pleasant in Irkutsk even if a bit colder with all that sun. February there averages -8/-20 so this is still way above average.
