I don't have many positive words to say about neither one, but Irkutsk does have more sunshine and an actual summer. Those factors do give it a slight edge but I had to think about it for a bit.

Irkutsk F.U.C.K.E.N Sable Island is one of the worst climates around. Dull cool summers, very pronounced seasonal lag with boring mild Decembers and cold springs, cold rain throughout the year, lame record highs... No thanks  |

Irkutsk by far. Better summer and winter. Sable Island winters are wet, rainy, and muddy. Irkutsk is dry but not so dry it doesn't get snow.

That is similar to the likes of upland Scotland, Pennines N England, AU upper High Country & Alps, NZ South Island uplands, Denmark, SW Norway, and so forth—all of those aforementioned regions are Cfc; not Cfb. Cfc is the only possibility for Sable Island, by miles. Köppen was a drunk bastard when he established these absurd "thresholds", lest he was quite similar to Baba. |

It's a bit of a draw for me, but in the end I picked Irkutsk for the drier and sunnier winters, and warmer summers.
