The Adventures of Adaminaby AnglerThis is where all of my memories shall dwell from now onwards—for to avoid clogging up the chief thread(s). Let us begin with Eucumbene, shall we? First day! The Adventures of Adaminaby Angler I ~ Eucumbene Providence Portal, NSW (1,170 m AMSL; 36° S); overlooking Denison Mount; 1,397 m AMSL: Overlooking the splendid Adaminaby-Eucumbene countryside; 1,000-1,300 m AMSL: Anglers Reach, NSW; 1,168-1,491 m AMSL; 36° S: Old Adaminaby, NSW, with Mt. Cobrabald (1,471 m AMSL) over yonder: Middlingbank to Buckenderra, NSW; 1,280-1,365 m AMSL: Frying Pan, NSW; 1,225-1,290m AMSL; 1,305 m AMSL at Rhine Falls: And finally, on the way back to Anglers Reach; splendid sunset!

The Adventures of Adaminaby Angler III ~ Polar FrontPolar front approaching from the SW, near Thredbo River; nasty, black, and wintry: Crackenback, NSW; 1,260-1,440 m AMSL; 36° S; polar front arrives from the SW: On the way back to Eucumbene; temperature plummeted from 31.5° C to 14.0° C within an hour: Middlingbank, NSW; 1,280-1,365 m AMSL; 9.0° C with squally showers, wind chiefly SW/SSW: Temperature near Jindabyne was 31.5° C at high noon; plummeted to 14.0° C in another hour (as the polar front arrived), then finally by the afternoon, 9.0° C at Middlingbank with a classical, wintry South-Westerly gale. Aussie Tablelands Summer...strewth!

The Adventures of Adaminaby Angler V ~ Top of AustraliaJourney begins near East Jindabyne, upon a morning fair; 920-1,180 m AMSL; 36° S: Crackenback to Thredbo Village, NSW; 1,260-1,440 m AMSL; wintry clouds: Ascending the Ramshead-Kosciuzsko Main Range; 1,927-2,228 m AMSL; above the clouds...sun was bloody harsh! Drank some glacial melt-water from the running springs, then continued farther upwards the mountain—bloody refreshing. However, it is a ~30 km trek to-and-from the summit in total, so bear with me, fellas...it's a long one! Lake Cootapatamba; highest glacial tarn in Australia; 2,048 m AMSL: Charlotte Pass, NSW over yonder; 1,755 m AMSL (valley floor); 36° 25' 54.12" S; site of the coldest recorded minimum temperature in Australia, registering –23.0° C in July 1994; much to my misfortune, it has been discontinued long since 2015. Ascending the summit of Mt. Kosciuzsko continues; towards yon west, Tumut Shire and the Riverina regional can be sighted—the plains of which straddle only ~200-400 m AMSL; plunges from ~2,200 m AMSL downards to ~200-400 m AMSL at the foot of the escarpment = ~1,800-2,000 m prominence: Atop the very highest point in Australia—summit of Mt. Kosciuzsko; 2,228 m AMSL; 36° 27' 21.24" S. Descending to Thredbo afterwards...and copping meself a nasty sunstroke in the process! Another lovely supply of glacial spring water halfway through the return-journey: Thredbo Top Station AWS; 1,957 m AMSL; 36° 29' 30.12" S; #No.1 highest Bureau of Meteorology weather station in Australia, yielding a well and truly alpine climate: Overlooking Thredbo Village, NSW, alongside Dead Horse Gap; 1,365 m AMSL down below, and 1,927 m AMSL up top; drops merely ~600 m to the bottom, which is quite petty compared to the staggering ~1,800-2,000 m prominence astride the western escarpment of the ranges; i.e. from the Kosciuszko summit downwards to the Riverina and Tumut Shire regional: Splendid revival time from the gruelling trip at Thredbo River, near Jindabyne (922 m AMSL). Late afternoon fishing with the lads, apple-picking, dinner...you name it! Dusky drive back home to Anglers Reach via Kalkite-Middlingbank; 1,280-1,365 m AMSL:

@adamimaby Angler that last set is gorgeous. Wasn’t expecting that much tundra and snow in the middle of the summer...that’s a beautiful area.
Keep the photos coming, this is becoming much more interesting than the actual photo thread.

I didn't realize that area looks so sub-polar. I'm sure consistent cold minimums in summer are common.
Great pics!

The Adventures of Adaminaby Angler VI ~ Monaro Easter 2019It began as a dreary old morn' on the leeward tablelands of the Monaro, about 700 m AMSL, on my way back from the Canberra markets on Easter (mid April): The cloud later gives way to splendid sunshine around Bredbo and clearing farther towards Cooma, straddling 800 m AMSL: Coolringdon; halfway between Cooma and Adaminaby, heading North-West. The ascent onto the windward tablelands of the Monaro begins now, at approximately 850-900 m AMSL: Ascending towards Wambrook Hill (1,115 m AMSL), then upwards Rhine Falls (1,320 m AMSL); well and truly on the windward side now, as well as having officially entered Western NSW: Descending into Adaminaby township; 1,017 m AMSL; 35° 59' 45.96" S: Heading South-West to Lake Eucumbene, ascending from 1,017 m to a maximum road elevation of 1,394 m AMSL, with an average of 1,225 m AMSL: Approaching the crest of the road at 1,394 m AMSL, with Mt. Cobrabald towering at 1,471 m AMSL over yonder, as well as the Old Adaminaby-Anglers Reach intersection: Finally, down into Anglers Reach village; 1,198-1,272 m AMSL; 35° 59' 52.08" S: The Adventures of Adaminaby Angler VII ~ Late April to Early MayForeshore of Lake Eucumbene; 1,154 m AMSL; 36° 00' 29.62" S, from Noon 'til Dusk-Gloaming: Morning stroll about the Anglers Reach slopes; 1,198-1,272 m AMSL; 35° 59' 52.08" S: Piney ridges and snowgum-laden woodland, climbing upwards 1,260 m AMSL—walking, not driving, mind you. Pleasant afternoon fly-fishing at Providence Portal; 1,174 m AMSL; 35° 57' 16.92" S, before a storm rolls in from the WNW of Denison Mount (1,397 m AMSL): Heading back to the property...colliding head-on with the storm! Ceased photography from then onwards, as matters were beginning to get quite rough—had to take over with the steering, too.
