Annual mean, precipitation and precipitation days are identical Not enough snow but still gets an A+

This is a great thread, love that you bumped it Steelernation . Precipitation (45.31"), snowfall (23.2"), and average annual temperature (54.3ºF) are the current values here. I'll take the liberty to change the record highs and lows. Still too cool year-round though, but pretty much perfect otherwise, so I'll give this an A-, assuming there are only a few days with snow cover.

Modified Sheffield - Improvements whilst retaining mean temperature, precipitation quantity and sunshine hoursSo here we have "Modified Sheffield" - retaining the mean temperature, precipitation quantity, and sunshine hours. So, what has changed? The following items have been changed:- Winter diurnal range increased
- Winter sun hours increased
- Winter made drier with few rain days due to my hatred of cold rain
- Springs are a bit colder (had to compensate somewhere for the milder summer lows and winter highs)
- Summers diurnal range decreased, much milder nights and slightly milder highs
- Summers get the most rainfall, and it is all convective
- Summers had to get duller to allow more winter/spring cold season sunshine
- Record highs are lower in summer and higher in winter
- Record lows are different

I thought it was a good time to revisit this thread. Sheffield's climate edited to my ideal but with the same annual temp, precip and sun hours. Last time I did this I cheated and had too few rain days. This time I have the correct number. So what changed? Now Sheffield has a more temperate climate with more even max temps, a more comfortable summer, with drier winters and wetter autumn. Heat has been erased because it is unnecessary rubbish, and sun is more evenly distributed.

I first added daily mean, average humidity (morning + afternoon figures / 2), dew points (online calculator) and sunshine hours (calculated by this); to allow conversions with my dream climate. Also, I changed the precipitation day threshold to 1.0 mm, and pretend that the 0.2 mm threshold has the same amount of rain days (so no sideways drizzle). Modified, it is a Cfa climate; and is practically my dream climate, but 0.5ºC cooler, drier and 13.8% cloudier. These are my changes: Winters have more extreme records, are drier, a little cooler; and yet unfortunately, a little more cloudy. Springs are more changeable (compare those diurnals) and warmer, with similar rainfall. and are still cloudier than normal. Summers are slightly wetter, warmer and finally a little more sunny! Extremes are more frequent, whether at day or night. Autumns are significantly more variable, with a faster temperature decrease, more sunshine and less rain. Overall, it earns an A; only improvement it really needs is more sunshine year-round for an A+. Everything else is fantastique, à mon avis. Modified vs Original (with added extras for comparison):

Surprisingly hard to make. November-March milder than Fort Collins was a must but I had to sacrifice warm season lows and make them chiller than ideal as our current winter lows are way too cold. Several days a winter month in this climate would get both snow and rain so it still rains a couple days in winter and there’s still some heavy snow. Summer also gets some dry thunderstorms. A- for this climate, too dry in winter and spring and lows too cold.

Out of curiosity, I made Vostok Station but it's not entirely shades of blue. 3 months I would like (though too dry), 2 months of a Dxa/Dxb winter, 2 months resembling unmodified Vostok, and 5 months of weather on Jupiter (though no wind). Since Vostok is so damn dry, I decided to make all precipitation occur in the mildest five months: for some snow and rain. Also, I decided to lower the latitude to 35ºS, and make winters have close to 100% sunshine (while summers have 75%). Even though 7 months of the year are indoors-only, at least it has a clear sky outside. Wind is non-existent for most of the year, but breezy weather dominates the short warm season. An E for me, at least there is some orange and even red in the weatherbox.

The cursed Vostok is gone, shame. I was going to make one but I already did on page 1. I should pick something else.

Annual means for temperature, precipitation, and sunshine hours remained the same.
I added new record highs, record lows, snowy days, and snowfall.
It's a much more continental climate than Zagreb.
It has the Apr-Jun precipitation peak, which corresponds to the main thunderstorm season.
This one is much more interesting to me than the real one.

Although winters are colder, the modified Zagreb is an improvement from the real one.
I'll trade colder winters for hotter (i.e. better) summers and a quicker spring warmup without hesitation.

I made a Vancouver copy too since I went there this past summer. Temps ended up close to Candle's more realistic one since we were both shooting for snowy winters. I quoted his in the spoiler. Overall: I started by warming summer by 10C and cooling winter by 10. Ended up with +9 in June and -11 in January, and removed some of the lag. Diurnal range was not changed at all, this isn't completely realistic, if you look hard you'll find other parts that don't quite make sense. Temp records are more extreme since it's more continental. On second thought the winter record low is probably too low. Precipitation was spread out evenly so winter wasn't so dreary. Wet days are adjusted to match, and the total number of days went down slightly since it gets more rain in the warm season, when most places get . The rain/snow split is a guess based on temps. Sunshine - I kept the overall average at 40.6 percent, just the average of all 12 numbers. Since I added a few percent to winter and subtracted a few from summer where days are longer, the total hours went down. Candle's post in spoiler. He used Vancouver Harbour CS 1971-2000, I used Vancouver International Airport 1991-2020. So I used a much drier place (1160mm vs 1589mm). Real Vancouver: Fake Vancouver (barely beats AJ's New Tucson climate in snowfall) :

Not much to work with but here goes. Since the mean temp here is already very warm I decided to go with a stable climate with low diurnals, precipitation is also extremely high so in this new climate it falls in the form of heavy thunderstorms that occur 5 times a month (incidentally these storms are also the cause of the record lows). Dew point, mean temp, and precip totals are all exactly equal to the real Miami Beach. ENJOY!

I wouldn't mind slightly colder winters in exchange for better (i.e. hotter) summers, so here's New Bern with same annual mean, but January being 3°F colder and July 3°F warmer. Also jacked up the record highs in the warm half of the year more than average highs so that >110°F temps can occur the summer months, would be very similar some real-world climates in central AR and eastern OK (e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Springs,_Arkansas#Climate) but with a summer precip peak.
