This would need some digging, but some comes to mind immediately
January: 1987 in Helsinki. Coldest on record. I don't remember anything from that luckily February: 2014 in Turku. 2C high, -1C low, 6 hours of sun. Nuff said October 2002 in various locations in Finland. Coldest October on record July: 2009 in Turku. Maded frost. Nuff said

I’m not counting stuff from when I was a kid or before I started paying attention to weather (since 2014).
March 2018–stable, below average, very snowy, didn’t get above 50 until the very end
April 2018–horrible month, rainy, stable, well below average and didn’t even manage a 50 f average high
May 2017–Cool, very rainy. The first week was like 50/40 and cold rain every day although the second half was decent
March 2015–stable again, barely broke 50, well below average
January 2015–cold, very stable, only 2 days above 40
February 2010–I don’t remember this but it’s so horrible I had to include it. Stablest February ever, highest temp 37–fucken pathetic, and the lowest high was 22, and it was snowy and below average.
——
March 2017 doesn’t make the cut since at least it was variable, got into the 60s and had a record windstorm and a huge snowstorm.
February 2015 also doesn’t make the cut as it was interesting and record setting at least.
——
If I were to do it by month: January 2015 February 2010 March 2018 April 2018 May 2017 June 2015 July 2017 August 2017 September—don’t remember the last bad one October—don’t remember the last bad one November 2017 December 2016

From my memory, May of 1992, July of 2000, November of 2000, December of 2000, and March of 2001 all stand out in my mind from my time in Shitchester. All much colder than average.
Since I've lived in Phoenix, November of 2004, February of 2005, March of 2006, January of 2007, March of 2010, January of 2011, and January and February of 2013 have been less than stellar months, soon to be joined by February 2019, which is experiencing the longest winter cold snap I've experienced in 18 years living here

January: 2008, hardly any snow just endless clouds and whenever snow emerged it turned into slush in a few hours. February: 2014, more of the same. Cloudy, low-diurnal, felt like November. March: 2010, delay of spring without even being properly cold. Would've needed much more after that winter.
April: 2016, half a blizzard the last week of the month just about summed that month up. May: 2015, don't even get me started on the 14°C average highs in Örebro that year. On the 1st, it was 4°C and raining... 2013 was bad for allergy reasons, that whole summer was a write-off, warm enough for allergies to explode and always windy/dry enough to put the allergens over the top. June: 2012, seriously rainy all month, never warm.
July: 2000, a gigantic rain cloud got stuck over the entire country and just poured it down the whole month. 1998 was cooler but I don't remember it too well. Dishonourable mentions to 2004 (rainfall) and 2013 (allergy). August: 2008, the only August this century not to hit 20°C average highs, a massive failure. 2013 was bad too because of allergy hanging on. September: 2014 for allergy reasons, I suffered a lot that month, including a racing heart during a bike trip a long way from home. Not fun. Luckily, I've learned to control my pollen exposure and medication better since so I haven't gotten anything resembling '13 and '14 since.
October: 2002. Not cool at all to have ice days at the end of that month without even any real snow. November: 2014, I think Örebro had about four-five sunshine hours all month. I literally recall all of them. December: 2011, the worst of the worst. Mild all month, with just clouds and darkness and wrapped up with a sizeable storm that made travelling back to Örebro a real hassle after Xmas.

Surely some of the hottest summer months were worse.

May: Fayetteville 2014(Hottest May averages 29.6/16.6°C, Most number of days above 32.2°C) Jun: Fayetteville 2012(Hottest temperature ever 41.1°C) & Fayetteville 2015(Hottest June averages 33.0/21.5°C) Jul: Fayetteville 2012(Hottest month averages 34.2/23.1°C) Aug: Fayetteville 2015(Hottest August averages 32.1/20.8°C) Sep: Fayetteville 2013(Most number of days above 32.2°C) Oct: Fayetteville 2014(Most number of days above 25°C)
Colder months are nothing fiercely bad as the hottest months I ever experienced suffered.

I remember some of the NASTY summer heatwaves in Minneapolis, and also some of the frigid cold snaps. But one of the worst summers was when there were severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings weekly for the entire season! Winter cold: Remember 2014! Summer heat waves- fuzzy, since I was little, but looks like the early 2010's were bad for summer heatwaves there, while recent years have mostly been alright summerwise. 2010 was an awful year for severe weather! Some of the severe storms I recall were interesting-- but generally love mah sissy oceanique weather, as many were terrible. blogs.mprnews.org/updraft/2010/08/minnesota_tornadoes_2010_were, Thankfully, mostly pleasant weather memories of Providence by comparison. Soooo many abnormally mild, lovely, Decembers, pleasant, crisp, autumns, and cool, rainy days in spring. Had a not so fun cold snap here though last month.

Good idea for a thread. Months are a bit of a stretch but I do remember fucked up seasons. - Whole summers of 2010, 2011 and 2018: record-breaking heat for months on end, I hated life.
- All the warmer than average Novembers in the past decade. A pointless month and extra depressing when warm.
- Springs of 2013, 2015 and 2017. Windy, cold, snow in May. The one season I like to have warmer than normal.
- Winter, or rather the complete lack of it, of 2007/08. December 2011 with no snow and triple the normal precipitation in rain. Many other lackluster ones as well.

March 2013: below average month, it seemed like winter would never end.
May 2013: another well below average month just after that despiceable March.
July 2011: cool and gloomy with only 167 hours of sunshine and not even reaching 30 °C.
December 2017: A disaster: almost no sun (about 10 sunshine hours iirc), no snow or any other excitement.

Worst:
January: idk, 2012 in Mississippi maybe February: 2017 in Kansas City. Third-warmest on record, extremely dry, the 22nd reached 79F. March: probably 2012 in Mississippi but my memory isn't super clear on it April: honestly no idea...maybe April 2011 in Mississippi because of the haze of tornado panic during the last week of the month May: 2018 in Kansas City. Second-warmest on record (losing out to 1962 only because of UHI: the station was moved out of downtown in 1972). Appears wet, but don't be fooled, the only precipitation came in the form of occasional local downpours that began and ended quickly. June: Probably 2012 in Mississippi but not really certain July: Probably also 2012 in Mississippi but again not really sure August: see above September: see above October: 2016 in KC maybe? I remember two strong heatwaves that sent temperatures approaching 90. November: not really sure, but 2016 in KC was 7F above average so we'll go with that December: In absolute terms probably somewhere in Mississippi, but relative to average, definitely 2014 in Ohio. It felt more like March or April than December. People's gardens even started trying to come up.
Best: January: Maybe 2014 in Ohio? February: 2015 in Ohio March: 2015 in Ohio also maybe? April: 2018 in KC May: 2013 or 2014 in Ohio probably June: probably 2014 in Ohio same for July, August, September October: possibly 2014 in Ohio or 2018 in KC November: guess what, it's another 2014 in Ohio December: probably 2010 in KC, one of the earliest months that I clearly remember for the weather

Well I used to live in a place called Buxton which is 800ft higher up and west of where I currently live. So Sheffield +more cloud, 50% more rain and 2°C colder temperatures basically. I've had many terrible months therefore. March 13 and December 10 could be considered excellent for snow lovers though with many feet of snow each. But not good for me really. These months are all from Buxton. April 2012, cold and wet with a blizzard on 4th. August 2010, cold cloudy piece of shit with nothing over 70F. December 2010, the actual coldest on record with feet and feet of snow. June 2012, the wettest and cloudiest on record. March 2013, the coldest and snowiest on record. May 2015, a wet, cloudy cold piece of shit.

I’m only going to use months from since 2008, because before that I lived in South FL and was too young to remember anything, so the following are the worst here.
January 2011 - not the coldest month but still plenty of stable cold, and very snowy February 2015 - extremely cold and snowy, the average high was around freezing iirc March 2018 - wet, heavy snowstorms occurred on like 3 separate occasions, and there was a complete lack of warmth, don’t think it got above 65F April 2018 - believe it’s the only April in my lifetime to register accumulating snow here May 2020 - had graupel and flurries early in the month, thankfully no accumulation or freezes June 2009 - miserably mild and wet in what is supposed to be the driest summer month, on average July 2021 - warm, humid, and rainy, with many shitty convective storms, and an absence of dry heat August 2011 - like July 2021 but add in a hurricane for the wettest summer month on record September 2021 - TS Ida dropped a ton of warm rain early on, and there was not much heat October 2011 - Crappy and cool, may have recorded an early freeze late in the month, and had mixed snow/rain occur late, thankfully without accumulation November 2018 - Remember getting a couple inches of snow around mid-month December 2010 - Very cold and a snowstorm around Christmas

I'm going to use relative to average since I've lived in numerous different places, and practically every month would be South FL which is boring. January 2020 in Northern VA - awful month, consistently mild and only had one decent snowfall, and it was only 2" at that. February 2018 in South FL and 2020 in Northern VA - in South FL's case, just an awfully warm month with no real cool weather, with an average low of 68.1 F . In Northern VA's case, it was a ridiculously boring month with just consistent mild and cloudy weather, and one of the only Februaries on record with no accumulating snow, and trees were already blooming. March 2020 in Northern VA / South FL - very warm month in both places. Trees were already leafing out in VA in mid-March. April 2020 in South FL - consistently hot month with not much rain. Just awful. May 2019 in Northern VA - consistently warm and boring month. June 2015 in South FL - one of the most boring summer months on record, insanely dry for the time of year. July 2015 in South FL - continuing the drought from June, another month that was insanely dry. August 2007 in North GA - Relentless heat and drought that month, just terrible. September 2019 in Northern VA - consistently warm and dry month, very boring. October 2021 in Sartell, MN - Insane mild spell early in the month, first 10 days were a ludicrous 13 F (7.2 C) warmer than average. It got a bit better later in the month, with several freezes late in the month, but still quite lame and boring relative to average here. November 2015 in South FL - Awful month. Consistently warm and wet, and even hit 90 F on the 11th. December 2015 in South FL - Similar to November but even more extreme relative to average. Warmest and wettest December on record, and didn't drop below 63 F (17.2 C) all month. Note: October 2021 was far from the worst October I've ever experienced overall, was just the shittiest relative to average.

Easy enough: the entirety of 2016, and Jan-Mar 2017 when I lived in a subarctic maritime cancer of a climate known as Normandy, and May 2019 in subpolar maritime Raw-me (that month didn't see ANY highs above 72°F ).
