Sounds like Greta is hunting for other made-up leftist fake news to get pissed off over, with western society, industry, men, and capitalism now to blame for this "mass extinction" event On a related note.... the captain of Greta's boat had to fly to the US to help drive said boat. Lmao. Stupid virtue-signalling child could've simply caught a flight herself, the flight is going to depart whether or not she is onboard. Ironically it would've been less carbon emissions because it would've omitted the carbon-intensive manufacturing of the boat from the equation www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7743223/Yacht-skipper-wiped-carbon-emissions-saved-Greta-Thunbergs-sail-Atlantic.htmlLol I'm convinced Greta is being used or something.

I feel like we should just move all the Greta stuff to the P&OC section.

I suggested to Babu that maybe a designated Greta thread would be in order but he threw some kind of tantrum.

I feel like we should just move all the Greta stuff to the P&OC section. I've argued all mentions of activists and politicians don't belong on this thread, maybe another thread on P&OC. Tempted to do so since I have moderator powers.

Now, regarding the paper published by Z. Hausfather & Co., I have some observations to present. Why did Zeke begin in 1970, might you ask? J.K. Angell & J. Korshover of NOAA have your answers: It can be plainly discerned that ~1970 was the low-point of global temperature; henceforth, Z. Hausfather & Co. merely took advantage of the minimal temperature anomaly straddling that era, thereby rendering a greater perceived accuracy for their models.

Photographs of activist rallies provide absolutely nothing of use to this topic.^
Please move that petty propaganda to the General Politics thread.

If I still would be a moderator I'd create a Greta thread in the P&OC section and move all the posts there. But the new mods are so lazy they can't be bothered. At least I actually did some mod work, like deleting a lot of threads.

moved political posts to a new P&OC, only went back to August or so, but each of the two threads should be "cleaner"

100 scientific papers: CO2 has minuscule effect on climateAlarmists, imagine for a second that all the hysteria, all the taxation and regulation, all the sleepless nights by children and gullible adults, all the shaming and attempted destruction of modern conveniences... were for nothing. Because that's exactly what real science is saying.
Reminder that science isn't a democracy and has nothing to do with consensus:
Also a reminder that you're arguing another zig in the stable and warm 2-4°C zig-zag we've been enjoying for a while is somehow catastrophic.
Also a reminder that warm periods have historically been times of great prosperity and progress while cold has brought famine and disease.

100 scientific papers: CO2 has minuscule effect on climateyou don't need computer models to demonstrate CO 2 emissions will cause global warming, radiation physics is sufficient. Alarmists, imagine for a second that all the hysteria, all the taxation and regulation, all the sleepless nights by children and gullible adults, all the shaming and attempted destruction of modern conveniences... were for nothing. Because that's exactly what real science is saying. Reminder that science isn't a democracy and has nothing to do with consensus: science isn't a democracy, but there's without good, supporting evidence there's little reason to believe a tiny majority of papers are "real science" and all the rest incorrect. n

Tuvalu islands that have been "sinking" for decades now got some exposure in local media recently when our puppet president insinuated the population could be relocated to the island of Hiiumaa because nation states don't exist in the bliss of communism.
Actual science says the islands are growing though. Oops.
In other news, we're now officially in a deep solar minimum.

Seems like the climate system is even more sensitive to warming than previously thought, this would be startling. This paper cited in the comment is very interesting imo (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41561-019-0310-1), stating that a 1200 ppm CO2 level (thrice of what we have now) could lead to a breakup of stratocumulus clouds, resulting in a further 8! °C temperature rise.
The map summarizes major possible tipping points, West Antarctica might already be past a tipping point:
