Young has only reached 5.2° C upon 9:00 AM, so now its record lowest maximum reading for May has officially been broken; 6.5° C, down from its previous record of 6.9° C at the old Young Post Office station, dating back to May 1977—remember, the old post office station was also notably higher at 440 m as opposed to 380 m AMSL of the modern Young AP station, which makes it all the more impressive.
Cowra has only reached 5.7° C, too; 7.5° C yesterday afternoon. If we look back to May 1960 at Cowra Post Office (1885-1966), 7.8° C was recorded then—another record broken. However, Cowra Research Centre (Evans St. [1943-2011]) recorded a maximum reading of just 6.4° C in May 2000; Cowra AP Comparison (1966-2011) recorded 6.7° C in May 2000, so the records still stand in those particular stations.

Another, even more extreme record broken: Dalby, QLD, plummeted to –3.6° C this morning, thereby shattering its old minimum record of –2.2° C held on May 1911; 118-year record shattered.
