Two very mild to cool climates here. Eureka, CA is cool year-round with wet winters while La Serena has a little bit more warmth but is a desert. Which one would you prefer? Humboldt County is well-named, I must say.

Pretty easy.
Eureka by far as it is cooler and wetter. The other is considerably more boring than an already boring climate (Eureka).

La Serena for being warmer and drier.

I'm going with Eureka for rain and sun. I think La Serena has a bit better summers though, I really would prefer more heat than either so Eureka is a C since it gets rain and Serena is a C- since it doesn't but remains comfortable year round.

Eureka for having rain. La Serena is just too dry.

Both are fucking shit as far as temps are concerned, but Eureka clearly has the more variety, more chance of "weather", so to speak. So Eureka it is.

I'll go for full comfort so La Serena. Eureka's rainy 9°C for half a year is awful, I get sick of that shit here in a month.

La Serena for me purely based on the fact that it has a summer beyond an SMHI definition. 21/14 with tropical sun at sea level would be very comfortable indeed.
Eureka is not terrible, it's just narrowly worse than my climate. It has its charm too in that winter warmth briefly occurs like having January 1981 tied as the warmest monthly maximum that year and also recording its warmest ever night (17°C) in January that month, which is insane at its high latitude. All that aside, it begs the question, would I really accept 18/12 summers in the long run and no chance whatsoever of any warm overnight lows? At least La Serena while never getting hot, should have recorded some 20°C lows in its history, shoreline on the cold current or not. Of course, La Serena can be rather warm in winter as well, which is a welcome bonus for any maritime climate.

Eureka. By far the better rain pattern (almost perfect), and more variety.

Hard choice. Eureka is sunnier but it's under 20C all year round. I'll begrudgingly go with Serena

La Serena I guess, for being warmer and having stronger sun

Eureka for more rain
La Serena's February record low looks really out of place

Both are F climates, but Eureka wins for more variety and sunshine here

La Serena has the better temps, but I have to choose Eureka for rainfall. La Serena is too dry.

Eureka. Rain has become more important than summer temps for me, even though both of these are too cool
