A mix of all the Chinese climate types. Located at 36N north-west of Xi'an, this city experiences the mix of the cloud to the south and the sun to the north. The rain and endless drizzle to the south and much drier steppe to the north. Winter: Actually the sunniest and driest season similar to the northern areas, high pressure dominates and fog is most likely a regular occurence. Spring: Quickly warms up with sunshine staying put and rain getting more frequent, although still light in quantity. Summer: Hot, humid, cloudy and unstable; although at least the diurnals are decent and thunderstorms are likely. Autumn: A very quick drop in temperatures, crisper weather but quite cloudy. Personally I give this a C-, poor winters and cloudy skies make up most of the negatives. The positives are a good April-October period, decent rainfall between March-October and the summer diurnals that make the season feel a bit more dynamic than southern-chinese cities.

C+. Barely any snow, too stable and summer is too wet.

I think this is a C/C+. Winter and Spring are horribly dry, and summer is too hot (you're right that it's better than S China though), but Sep-May has good averages. Sunshine seems even, but I dislike the gloomy early autumn. Think I'd prefer N Italian or East Coast climates to this.

Pretty good. Solid B because it's too cold in winter and on the dry side overall while still being too cloudy.

B- as in surprisingly good.
Rare combination of low annual precipitation and decent temps in China. One of the best in the country and in the whole of Asia for sure.

C
I prefer Changsha though which has a -12C record low, more precip and probably more snow, and it is at 28N no less!

B-
Winters are chilly but dry and sunny. Summer is pretty solid but the rain / sunshine ratio is very poor.

C, biggest issue is the dry snowless winter and cloudy summer. Summer is a bit warm and it should have more rain or less rainy days unless China uses a low rain threshold.

Horrible, but good for Chinese standards considering that it's not that wet.
