17.5°C shade temp inside BUT, I'm sweltering because I'm sitting in the sun (today was forecast cloudy!) - the temperature is 30°C in the sun.

Looks well-needed for a Buxton residence but at the same time I guess there's zero heat acclimatization when you live there UV strength must be rather decent in summer though at your elevation and 53N? I mean even here five degrees north and at sea level you can get a sizeable tan.

After you get used to indoor temps of 15-16°C, sun giving effective temps of 30 feels very sweaty. Not sure what our UV strength gets to in summer. Doesn't feel all that much though.

Only 18.4°C but it's baking because I'm sitting by the window in the sun and the unshaded temperature is 27°C.
