This song goes unbelievably well with Vietnam War footage. Has the be the most stereotypically 60's video I've ever seen.

"C'era un ragazzo che come me amava i Beatles e i Rolling Stones" by Gianni Morandi, 1966
Translation:
There was this guy who, just like me, loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones
There was a guy
who, just like me,
loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
He travelled all over the world,
he came from the United States of America.
He wasn't handsome
but next to him there were thousands of women, yeah, he sang Help and Ticket to Ride
or Lady Jane or Yesterday.
He sang long live to freedom ! but he received a letter.
He gave me his guitar,
he was called back to America.
Stop with Rolling Stones!
Stop with Beatles, stop!
They told him: «Go to Vietnam
and shoot Vietcongs.»
tatata....
There was a guy
who, just like me,
loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
He travelled all over the world,
but then he ended up making war in Vietnam.
He no longer wears
long hair,
he doesn't play the guitar, but
an instrument
that always makes the same note: t-ra ta ta ta.
He has no more friends,
he has no more fans,
he sees people falling down.
He won't return back to his country,
now he's dead in Vietnam.
Stop with Rolling Stones!
Stop with Beatles, stop!
In his chest there is not an heart anymore,
but two or three medals.
tatata...

Written in 1956, recorded in 1959, released in 1960.
Non, rien de rien No, nothing at all
Non, je ne regrette rien No, I don't regret anything at all
Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait Neither the good things they did to me
Ni le mal, tout ça m'est bien égal Nor the bad, everything is same to me
Non, rien de rien No, nothing at all
Non, je ne regrette rien No, I don't regret anything at all
C'est payé, balayé, oublié It's paid, swept away, forgotten
Je me fous de passé I don't care about the past
Avec mes souvenirs With my memories
J'ai allumé le feu I've lit up the fire
Mes chagrins, mes plaisirs My troubles, my pleasures
Je n'ai plus besoin d'eux I don't need them anymore
Balayées les amours Swept away the romances
Avec leurs trémolos With their trembles
Balayés pour toujours Swept away for eternity
Je repars à zéro I start again from zero
Non, rien de rien No, nothing at all
Non, je ne regrette rien No, I don't regret anything at all
Ni le bien, qu'on m'a fait Neither the good things they did to me
Ni le mal, tout ça m'est bien égal Nor the bad, everything is same to me
Non, rien de rien No, nothing at all
Non, je ne regrette rien No, I don't regret anything at all
Car ma vie, car mes joies Because my life, because my joys
Aujourd'hui ça commence avec toi Today, it begins with you

The Zappa version of Happy Together is fun. I had to restrain myself from blasting that song when I had a roommate who argued loudly with his girlfriend way too much. Played the "world is a vampire" instead

a song for knot . It does have a great beat I'm not quite sure they're sincere. Nostalgic but mocking 20% of the time?

my favorite social commentary Kinks song; can almost imagine older Long Islanders stuck in the same, boring job.
Here's your reward for working so hard Gone on the lavatories in the back yard Gone all the days when you dreamed of that car You just want to sit in your shangri-la
The little man who gets the train Has got a mortgage hanging over his head But he's too scared to complain 'Cause he's conditioned that way

Two versions of the same song by A.L. Lloyd (1962). Always loved these!
