This could potentially be interesting! Needless to say, Dubrovnik is not your typical mediterranean climate, just look at how much rain it gets for the few rain days elsewhere in summer, besides July!
It has my vote since Knoxville is a bit too extreme in summer with those 31/20 normals and probably excessive thunderstorm activity as well. For winters, I prefer 12/6 over 8/-1, the latter is pointless single-digit nonsense regardless. For its averages, the snow yield is dreadful.

this is quite tricky because knoxville presumably has loads of summer thunderstorms, warms up quicker and actually has a barely higher average temp, However Dubrovnik wins this for me with their lack of real cold and not completely arid summers.

Knoxville, easily; 6° C lows in "winter", especially at Dubrovnik's latitude, are an absolute disgrace.
Also, both have muggy and stable/boring summers, but at least Knoxville has a chance at 40° C, alongside far greater thunderstorm activity and intensity. Dubrovnik is a downright catastrophe.
Classic example of American climate>>>>>>>European climate.

Dubrovnik for milder winters. Solid A climate.
Knoxville is a B.

Knoxville easily, much better than Dubrovnik in almost every single way.
Also Knoxville doesn't have a warmer mean than Dubrovnik, mean in Knoxville is 15.3 C versus 16.3 C in Dubrovnik.

If you take (high + low)/2 for a fair comparison, Dubrovnik's mean would be 16.6 C.

Lommaren dubrovnik's normal is old, so I presume those summers have warmed to comparable mean temps... the humidity/comfort advantage is still slgithly there, but knoxville seems much more interesting and has better winters so its my pick.

jgtheone, is Dubrovnik your favourite Croatian climate?

Nope, Knin and (I assume) Metkovic are my favourites.
Edit: Also the town of Sinj, given its geography.
Voted for Dubrovnik in the poll btw.

I vote for Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik has the advantage for me in every respect, except presumably snow.

Dubrovnik for cooler summers. If Knoxville got more snow I would pick that instead.
