Around five million years ago the mediterranean basin was completely dry leading to land at depths as low as 16,000ft below sea level. As you would imagine the climates present in such areas were unbelievably extreme. This battle pits a simple estimation of what one of those climates might look like against what is universally seen as the worst climate on earth today. Calypso Deep: Vostok Station:

Extreme cold kills much quicker than extreme heat, so I'll take Vostok Station, thank you very much!
Farthermore, heavy clothing would help against Vostok's cold; contrarywise, there is no protection from the extreme heat of Calypso Deep—other than being confined to an A/C room, which sounds boring and gay...and downright miserable. Thereby, it is much easier to survive and retain some form of sanity in Vostok than it is in Calypso.

This was almost out in space, make me think of Venus vs March..although Venus is extremely cloudy and with a mean surface temp of 462C (!) and wiht an atmosphere that would crush a person.

Vostok easily. The other one is extremely hot. Those temps would take a huge toll on infrastructure. Cold temps are easier to deal with, as far as infrastructure goes...not to mention dressing for it. You can't dress for 77C!

Calypso for me, although it's still a F lol, just not the Z- of Vostok. Its winter seems to have pretty liveable, if harsh weather, and record lows suggest it could have comfortable and milder times as well, while vostok is a never-ending hell-on-earth, with extreme sunlight deprivation/polar night during the winter, and fake frigid record highs throughout the year.

People have insulated buildings and lived year-round in Vostok. Can’t say anyone has ever insulated and lived in 144/129 summers with temps getting up to 170°F.
I’ll go narrowly with Vostok.

Fucking gay is way too nice for that cesspool's shit pile on fire Righto. "Fucking gay" applies more to climates like Lima and Walvis Bay I suppose.

I seriously cannot believe my eyes...two (2) votes for Calypso Deep!
How on Earth do you survive >70° C outdoors, let lone retain sanity? Enlighten me.

Vostok also, I think it would be easier to keep a house warm in Vostok than a place cool in Calpyso. Both places need specialized buildings and climate control since normal building materials and HVAC don't do well at -90 or +80C. Calypso probably has more interesting geography and no polar night, that's good. I think the area around Vostok is flat and white. But I won't be outside much in either place and houses won't have many windows, if any, for better insulation.

Very interesting. Why was Calypso Deep this hot?

Very interesting. Why was Calypso Deep this hot? Because it was dry land 16,000 ft below sea level

Very interesting. Why was Calypso Deep this hot? Because it was dry land 16,000 ft below sea level But why does it get hotter below sea level? Is it because it's closer to the earths geothermal heat source?
