A bit on the hot and dry side for my tastes. Maybe a B- or so? It looks similar to somewhere like DC for temperatures.

D+; too warm, dry and sunny for my tastes, it gets a good seasonal change though. This looks like a very warm climate for Bulgaria.

jgtheone How's the variability like? That is crucial.

It's right in the south-western corner of Bulgaria. jgtheone How's the variability like? That is crucial. It's hard to find records, but I assume it's something similar to Thessaloniki, with slightly more extreme record highs and lows due to an inland position.

Climates with an average high of 32°C in the warmest month cannot receive better than D.

Wikipedia states the following for Sandanski:
Accordingly by the aforementioned description, Sandanski is variable year-round, with "heavy snow" occasionally. Thereby, this gets a weak A– from me; too dry, especially in winter and spring, but at least it gets snow; some fair variability in summer, alongside merely occasional thunderstorms.

B+ or A-. Depends on snowfall and variability. Either way one of the best in Europe.

C-, too warm in summer but the mild nights help some. Too dry as well.

I think we had someone on C-D that from Serres if I'm not mistaken?

There's no way Sandanski averages 2600h of sunshine. The rest of Bulgaria is all 2000-2200h, and even Thessaloniki at the coast instead of up in the mountains only averages 2300h. That being said, C

I'll be generous and give it a B- since much of the year will be rather pleasant, although I'm not a fan of the summer and winter highs are disappointing for being in Southern Europe - although since Bulgaria is where it is on the landmass, it's to be expected.

Without seeing records in that table, I can't be 100% firm on my rating, though it looks like a B+. No major qualms other than it being a bit too dry year-round.
