This thread does NOT relate to monthly anomalies, but rather your favoured winter mean temperature. For .e.g. would you rather averages of 1° / 5° C (3° C mean) or –8° / 2° C (–3° C mean). Some other folks that have replied to this thread have also gotten it wrong, so worry not, lad.

It really depends on what the variability is like but I’ll lean a bit towards 3°C as that would be closer to my dream climate.

Yeah, oops.
This is a tough one, actually. With the right variability 3C is better though

4/-3 would be similar to NYC, while -2/-8 would be way too cold. So I'll choose the +3 anomoly

Makes it even easier, 3C then
Given mean of 3C, would like it to be 9/-3

I also thought this was about temperature anomalies rather than the exact mean, the wording of the original post isn't very clear about that, IMO.
In that case I'll go with -3C, cold enough for a real winter feel without being excessively cold, a nearly perfect mid-winter temperature.

In Sweden we often say minus-degrees and plus-degrees, but as that's not a thing in the English language, it was natural to interpret the plus as adding 3'C.

Thanks I changed my vote from -3°C to +3°C now, didn't realized asking an absolute value of temperature.

-3C average mean is much better than +3. Both are warmer than I want in winter, but -3 will have more snow and more consistent snow cover.

-3 mean for sure. Would generally result in a lot of snow for Vancouver!

-3C would be nice for more snow. A +3C mean often isn't very snowy, as you may get just one or two good snowstorms.
