Original idea was a thread for weatherboxes I made from a climate model's simulation of the last glacial maximum. But maybe people could add other stuff on the subject, so made a more general title =================================================== showed this on the shoutbox a few months ago. I found a gridded data set of a climate model simulation of the peak of the last ice age (last glacial maximum; 21,000 years ago). Posting below the modeled climate of some places back then. Think of it as not a climate of a city but of a grid cell averaged over latitude & longitude range. The grid cells are 1.25ยฐ x 0.94ยฐ wide, large enough a city could include places with a very different climate in the same cell. so grid cells that cover land and water, or contain a range of elevation will smooth a lot of local climate differences. Like, the grid cell containing Miami has lots of water so it doesn't reflect Miami's climate exactly. Here's what the southeast looks at this resolution, showing Jan ยฐC temperatures. Since it's not quite right to say they're climates of a city, I'll just label them by the latitude and longitude. Near NYC, going inland to avoid water. Near NYC Near Raleigh Portland, Oregon Tucson, Arizona (dunno what elevation this is at, would like to know)

This time saying Turku and Umeรฅ being cold fucken desert ice packs isn't an exaggeration.

Awesome thread!
Are there any simulations of the Holocene Climactic Optimum? That would also be interesting.

Malta was probably quite mild and rainy.

Here are a couple climates I made based on these model outputs: pmip3.lsce.ipsl.fr/I think I made Raleigh a bit too continental and OKC a bit too dry, but I don't feel like changing it right now.

^That's the current Raleigh as well. The real Raleigh.

Can you do ice age Bangkok and ice age Christchurch, NZ too please? I imagine the former would be an improvement but the latter would get much worse.

Wonder how much it differs from the NCAR one I used (only chose it cause it was relatively easy to download & analyze, and just knew the name).

nei When you get the chance can you make one for Miami? The cell between 26N and 27N and 81W and 80W seems like it doesnโt have any water.
