One of the most oppressive summers in the world with 36'C highs while averaging a 28'C dewpoint. F's in chat, boys

I give it a C-. As much as I love heat, even I would probably find the summer there difficult to bear! But it's better than an oceanic hellhole with cold rain. As a final note, the *average* heat index on August with 34Β°C + 72% humidity is 47Β°C!

Rather this than most of the Gulf due to the less intense daytime heat.
D-
Winters in isolation look pretty awesome.

E+. A novelty for sure, I would certainly give it a try for a year. Wonder if there are decent breezes, being an island and all, which would take the edge off a bit? The mental humidity would be too much after a while, not a place for long term residence. Also gets next to no storms.

F+. Winter is tolerable, but summer might be worse than Death Valley.

the diurnal range is insane especially at those temps in summer... The weather is beautiful but boring in the first half of the year, however, the summer is just too hot to rate it above an D. I can imagine the heat indexes touching 50C frequently from june to sept.

A graph to show how consistently hot it is. This is the min and max feels like temperature for 2019 for Sirri Island. I think this is the heat index because it's a US website. Days that reached 50C are colored red, which is almost every single day for 3.5 months. The worst days reached 140F/60C. For comparison, two "hot" places that don't even come close to Sirri Island. Houston and Darwin. I made graphs for 2018 and 2019 in the spoiler. Summer 2019 was hotter than 2018. Link to these graphs: Iowa Mesonet Automated Data Plotter. Lots of interesting graphs there. mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/plotting/auto/?_wait=no&q=11&network=IR__ASOS&zstation=OIBS&year=2018&emphasis=86&var=tmpf&opt=touches&dpi=100&_fmt=png2018 temps. About 4 months without going below 30C, and three without going below 90F. 2019 temps. Almost 4.5 months above 30C, but only 1 or 2 days reached 40. 2018 dew points. 25C/77F dew point is "dry" here. 2019 dew points. The peak humid season is a little longer, and there are more dew points in the high 80s F / low 30s C. Peak of 89F/32C. 2018 feels like temperature. 50C or 55C is common in the summer months. The first time it felt like under 90F/32C was late October, but that probably feels chilly compared to August. 2019 feels like temperature. Days that reached 50C are in red. Almost every single day, for 3.5 months, had a "feels like" of 50C at some point in the day, and some felt like 60. Even at night it is oppressive, because most days the coolest "feels like" temperature is still about 45C/110F, and it never got even close to cooling off.

That must be a lot hotter than Furnace Creek, Death Valley in terms of heat index. Damn. They averaged a dewpoint high of 30'C in July 2019!

Saw Abu Dhabi has an August mean of 35.3 at a 63% RH, making a 27.2'C average DP, which combined with an average high of 42.9'C would mean an average heat index high of 58'C. Would be interesting if you could compare Sirri Island, Abu Dhabi and Furnace creek, possibly in a new thread in the weather section! Crunch41

Damn! Kish island is even worse! There's no climate table on the wiki, but this station seems even more complete, with sunshine recording too. Look at those 40'C days with 30'C average dewpoints!

And here's Abu Dhabi. Not quite as humid, but considering the higher temperature it's still very impressive!

Awesome! Looks like Abu Dhabi overall might be more oppressive. Lower wind speeds there aswell. I looked at the hourly readings, and unfortunately, Abu Dhabi dips in DP during the afternoon when the temperatures are in their 40's. So even though the 24h DP average might be 27'C, it will "only" be like 15-25'C during the hottest hours of the month. 2019 saw a 66'C heat index on Kish Island one day, whereas the hottest days in Abu Dhabi only got like 55'C or something like that
