So as the new year is approaching, out of pure speculation, do you think you will experience any weather records/extremes where you are? Anything from record heat, cold, snowfall, rain, aridity etc.

I'm fairly certain at least one heat record will be broken in Umeå 2020

I'd be surprised if 2020 is as mind-numbingly boring as 2019. That's all I'll say.

I expect one or two monthly record highs.

Airport here broke two monthly all-time highs last year. Maybe one the coming year? Also I expect the pattern of stuck weather pattern for longer than before to continue.

Snow in July 2020. I will keep saying this for every year until it actually happens. Also for February to average 30C max

It appears that I have mis-read what this thread was actually about—thought "New Year" meant only January.
So, here are my predictions for each season (in general):
Summer = above average in both maxima and minima; below average precipitation
Autumn = above average in maxima; below average in minima; below average precipitation
Winter = below average in both maxima and minima; above average precipitation
Spring = below average in maxima; average in minima; average precipitation
Reasoning(s)
The heat has already kick-started early, so January and (hopefully) February are likely to be above average as well; IOD neutral, which will prolong the summer drought conditions, and perhaps even that of early-mid autumn; hence, the autumnal months are likely to yield a greater diurnal range.
Later into autumn, straddling May onwards into winter (June-August), –AAO is probably on the cards again (as usual nowadays); this will allow subantarctic polar fronts to penetrate the Australian continent with maximal ferocity—depending on how negative the Antarctic Oscillation steers—thereby yielding below average temperatures, and above average precipitation; and likewise, heavy snowfall.
From September onwards into November, –AAO will likely persist; again, below average temperatures, although precipitation may not be quite as above as that in winter, and minima may be relatively moderate.
December may receive a more neutral phase of the AAO, or perhaps even +AAO; average to above average temperatures—although minima may be below average, with below average precipitation.

Mild pattern looks to continue for January. It can’t last forever though so February will be cold, March will be cold as always. Mild April, above average may, summer will probably be stable and above average. After that I won’t be here and don’t give a fuck. And I have no clue about precipitation.
They’ll probably be a top 10 warm month somewhere, hasn’t been one since September 2018. No record heat though, maybe a random daily record.
