December 2019 had slightly above-normal temperatures, but it was mild, boring, and dry. The only interesting thing was some very light freezing drizzle on the 16th. Overall, 2019 was the second coldest year this century in OKC. However, it was only the 41st coldest month since records began, barely putting it into the coldest third of years. Every month except September and December were colder than their 1981-2010 average, but some months were only colder by a few tenths of a degree. While I was in England, OKC received their most snow from a single storm since February 2011, but at a mere 4.5" (11.4 cm) of snow, it would be considered unimpressive in many other locales. In addition, the winter of 2018-19 was the fourth consecutive winter with below-average snow. There were snow flurries on October 30, which is the earliest I've seen snow. It snowed again on November 11, but didn't accumulate then either. May was the third wettest on record, and the fifth wettest month on record, but I was still in England and missed it. Summer had a nice cool spell in late July that broke some records, but the first three weeks of August were disgustingly hot and humid. September was the seventh warmest on record, and felt like an endless summer, with not a single high below 82 F (28 C) and not a single low below 66 F (19 C), both records by a large margin. But from October 6 to November 15, well below-normal temperatures prevailed. That was the second coldest such period on record, and October was the eighth coolest on record. 2019 as a whole was rainy, being the eighth wettest year on record. OKC got more rain than Raleigh, which happens sometimes.

So, here I am with the final 2019 averages. This time I also put some more effort in it, and even made the wikipedia climateboxes for it. Let's start from the data for the closest weather station to my village in Italy: And here there is the details on the month of December ^ those high temps days are mostly related with foehn wind days, there were quite a lot in this last month Here instead is the table for the closest weather station to my home in Grenoble: And the associated detail on Dec: ^ also in this case there was a quite long foehn wind episode around the middle of the month For evaluating the deviations from the average, this time I decided that it could be better to use further weather stations, but with longer measurements for having some standard climate period to use as a comparison. I decided to use the 1971-2000 period as a reference because it's the most recent for which I could find data for the Turin airport station (infoclimat and such allow to show the averages for any period, but the values just look completely off). So, the closest official weather station to my village is the one of Turin's airport, for which the 2019 averages were: and these are the absolute variations from the 1971-2000 average [1]While these are the data for Grenoble airport for 2019 [2] (don't know a better site for French stations) and these are the absolute variations from the 1971-2000 average So, in both place the year has been (overall) warmer than the average in both highs and lows, while regarding the precipitations the first part of the year was generally dryer than usual and the last part rainier. Around Turin the large amounts of rain (in particular in November) brought the yearly values above the average, while at Grenoble airport the final value remained below the average (not sure this last statement would also be valid also for the city, the prec. values look quite different between the two Grenoble stations I showed)

Temperature wise December was in Võru 5.3c above average, so the month was really warm for local standards. There was just only one ice day during the whole winter month. Precipitation was significantly above average and sunshine was below average.
As for the year as a whole, it was warmer than average in terms of temperature, but as always, it came at the expense of winter and transition seasons and resulted in a annoyingly poor summer (except June). Ironically yeah, in the country as a whole the earliest registered snowfall ever was recorded in north-east on September 24 (no snow accumulated on the ground).

Overall a pretty good year for Auckland . Much drier and sunnier than average and slightly warmer. Was a noticeable difference to the 1500mm recorded in 2018, especially considering some parts of the metro area recorded only 780mm in 2019.

Nope, just endless sun and 90s. It was unreal. Epic and fantastic year for Lexington. Cant believe you only had one month with sub-10c highs! Really amazing, hope you can get a repeat

It's finally time for my summary! Although Norrköping is a little bit different to Nyköping since it's 50-60 km west or so, the patterns are generally similar enough to use it, even though diurnals tend to be lower here outside of winter because of the proximity to the sea. All in all, a rather frustrating year. It looks better on paper than it was. In summer there were abundant small cells of rain or thunder hovering around this area all the time for all times there was no heat, most of the time falling in between Norrköping and Nyköping. Then, even during the heatwaves, there were an abnormal amount of thunderstorms around too although few actually hit Nyköping proper - I had to take shelter away from home while being outside twice (!) in one summer, which is unprecedented. Then during shoulder seasons there were periods of drought and drizzle, never finding a happy medium. The snow melted way too quickly in late January and never found its way back in the early 2019-20 winter. Although the "town bay" froze over in January, this was soon long gone. Then for all the sun and drought in April, temperatures weren't all that impressive either. Still, April was record-level sunny and the sunniest month of the year and June broke the all-time record for monthly mean temps due to the warm nights that triggered the early thunderstorms. June was the epic month in general, even though for me it was ruined by being chased down by that thunderstorm on the bike 20 km north of town. Even so, the hangover in early July was astonishingly dull until two random bursts of heat from the continent came around later on that month and in August. This year also saw the longest thunder season for a generation, beginning with a major one hitting town in May and ending with serious lightning in the Tunaberg forests in late September. I really hope 2020 will be a lot more stable and reliable, rather a dull summer with not much rain than this nonsense.

Pretty sunny year in the Baltic sea. Good Lord, Paris was sunnier than Umea despite this! Exceptional year here sun-wise.

Here’s the full year for Tucson. All data is from the official airport station. It was their wettest year since 1998 and their snowiest since 1990.

My suburb in western Sydney (near Prospect Reservoir): I'd wager that the sunshine stats in December would have been higher if it weren't for the persistent smoke haze. The month was pretty dry and cloudless (the 'clouds' were just heavy smoke, which naturally lowered the month's sunshine hours).

Lol, Leeds had a pretty crappy year. Essentially the same temperatures from Feb to July, and then back in September again.

As I have the past few years, I’ve made a bunch of yearly weatherboxes. If there’s any place you want me to do, let me know. I’ll start with some places in the Northeast: Poughkeepsie, NY: Albany, NY: Burlington, VT: Caribou, ME: Highmarket, NY: Mount Washington, NH: So it begins
