Jo'burg since it seems more interesting and more seasonal.

Tough choice but I choose Cape Town for having more chance of hot weather.

joburg bc they both have similar sun, winters, and summers even if cape town is slightly warmer but joburgs summer rainfall & thunderstorms are the clincher

Johannesburg for a better precipitation pattern and slightly more chance of cold.

Johannesburg is better in every way. It's actually not a bad climate at all for where it is. A few thousand feet higher and we'd be in business...

Johannesburg; much wetter overall (+200 mm), and more defined seasons.

These are both very good for the latitude. Johannesburg wins. It gets more storms, and I prefer wet summer to wet winter. The low humidity in winter is not a problem for me, and the cool dry weather may be enough to get some fall colors. I'm not sure if Cape town would get that. The plants are too different from what I'm used to.

Joburg's pretty good as warm climates go, I like the dry winter/wet summer combination.

Capetown is a cool, stormless version of this stormless New South Fucked climate. Joburg easily.

This would be a bit like choosing between one's children. Cape Town does edge it for me thanks to fewer thunderstorms and summers exactly on my preference in terms of temperatures. Having said that, with a more even precipitation pattern in Johannesburg, it could easily have flipped it. Winter drought feels rather pointless though.

Cape Town as it's drier and has milder winters.
