Apparently it snowed overnight in Windsor, that has to be one of the latest snowfalls on record for them seeing as today's average low is 8.6C and record low is -0.6C. In other news, Saskatoon's cool-down this past weekend turned out to be temporary, with temperatures expected to steadily rise throughout the week and go above 20C by the weekend

Tampere Härmälä had their latest measurable snowfall in history today. 2 cm fell during early morning. Data is missing from 1999 to 2008, so it's not 100% reliable, but the data starts at 1959.

Yeah the cold front swept thru a good chunk of Yurop. Recent temp graph from Nancy, Lorraine. From a 24.9°C high around 5 pm yesterday to a 3.4°C hourly reading at 5 pm today. They weren't far from snow at some point in the afternoon: Nice precip map for the last 24 hours. Significant rain over large areas, 100 to 150 mm+ totals in southern France: Last but not least, 4 pm temps in Alsace yesterday vs today:

High so far is just 43 (6 c), that’s another record low max.
Tonight and tomorrow night should be below freezing but then we’re out of the woods with 60s and even 70s to finish the 10-day.

^ Awesome! Was about to ask if it snowed anywhere in Europe yesterday/today with that big temperature drop. shalop thanks! I looked it up on Wikipedia, you're right the stats look wonky. Especially the Nov-Dec highs. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ennadai#ClimateLooks a bit like a mix of Churchill and Baker Lake. Here it's a seasonably warm morning, low was 74 F (23.3 C) and as of 8 am it's 79 F (26.1 C) with a 63 F (17.2 C) dew point, today's high is predicted at 83 F (28.3 C) but I think that's a load of horseshit, as yesterday hit 88 F (31.1 C) with an 81 F (27.2 C) predicted high lol.

freezes this late are bad for crops up in the Northeast Yahya Sinwar (less so here since the growing season just began)

some New Hampshire and Maine stations set the record for coldest May max on record this weekend. Including Hanover, NH whose station goes back to 1893.

^ Awesome! Was about to ask if it snowed anywhere in Europe yesterday/today with that big temperature drop. This is not awesome, this is a disaster. Very bad for agriculture and economy. Horrible. Latest ever snowfall recorded in Daugavpils and Bauska in Latvia. Poor eastern Latvia which is already the poorest region of the country has been under snow this morning:

Lmao it's a snowfall, not a F4 tornado.

Awesome from a weather enthusiast perspective, because of how rare it is. I know late freezes and snow are bad for agriculture. This is not just late, this is record late for some locations. You know what's awesome for me? That it hasn't snowed in Riga and the most of the country. It always can be worse.

Record late = extremely rare = cool from a weather enthusiast perspective, you're being a tad dramatic about this. I'm not cheering on the death and destruction of people.
How much snow fell in those affected regions? I would imagine at this time of year it melts very fast anyways.

In Finland there is no agriculture, I suppose.
A couple of cm isn't a big deal. It's just solid water. And if anything, a blanket of snow insulates and protects the plants from cold nighttime temperatures. And agriculture is only 4% of the Latvian GDP, so boo hoo.

Yep I was actually gonna say, snow is actually better for plants than a hard freeze with bare ground. Helps keep the roots from freezing. Snow provides good soil moisture as well.
