A rare cloudy night downtown and in coastal parts of Jacarandopolis City. A huge warmup in the metro area from last week's monstrous cold blast, temperatures are looking a lot more seasonable.

Extremely cold morning today, setting a new record for January 2nd, it being the coldest temperature since January 1982 and being the joint 3rd coldest temperature ever recorded!
**RECORD REPORT**
As of 850 am, Winter Haven has recorded a low of -94 F (-70 C), beating out the old record for January 2nd of -92 F (-69 C) set on January 2nd, 1977. This is coming on the wake of an extremely cold air mass that has gripped the region for the grand majority of the past 6 weeks. Temperatures might drop further still.

High today was -83 F (-64 C) today which tied the record of lowest high for the date, and fifth-lowest maximum temperature recorded overall. Today is one of the coldest days in Winter Haven history. Much milder tomorrow and the day after though.

Been snowing moderately/heavy all day with windy conditions, leading to blizzard-like conditions. 16.1" of snow has fallen today so far, much more than forecast. Due to conditions being worse than normal, a blizzard warning has been put into effect until 7 PM tomorrow, Friday, January 5, 2018.
**BLIZZARD WARNING**
A strong surface low passing to the north of town is creating a strong southerly flow, ushering in much milder weather for the Winter Haven area, but at the same time a good deal of moisture from the south. This is causing heavy snow, strong winds and very low visibility with blizzard-like conditions a lot of the times. Please use precaution if outside, or try avoiding being outside as much as possible. An additional foot, up to 20 inches more of snow is expected out of this storm.
