Very warm today in Winter Haven, morning low was 60 F (16 C) and the high is predicted at 89 F (32 C) for today
**SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING**
Strong SW winds will be bringing high humidity and lots of warmth to the area, which will create strong convection along a very strong cold front that will be coming through the area later on today. This will lead to the development of a severe squall line which will impact the city in the early afternoon until late afternoon hours, bringing very strong thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall, gusty winds over hurricane force, hail, very frequent lightning, and even the possibility of some tornadic development. Rainfall amounts will be between 3-5", with some isolated heavier spots. Please take precaution before heading outside.

Yeah lol, flooding is always a big concern during spring in WH, but this winter/spring has just been ridiculous. From the copious amounts of snow in winter to random, sudden surges of warmth and storms, it's been a rough past 6 months or so for WH residents. Luckily the strong May sun does evaporate and dry out things pretty quickly. Also, WH is quite hilly and not located at a low elevation (located at 500 m/1640 feet in elevation) so it won't be a New Orleans type of situation either lol.

Probably only possible in a planet like where WH is located with a higher axial tilt. The strong sun angle (77 degrees) helps in these random surges of warmth as well. Trees aren't really doing much yet, since these warm surges aren't long lived and most nights are still getting frosts and freezes. The trees will definitely get a late start this year due to the inordinate amount of snow cover, which will probably take until early June to melt off. Not a good year in WH so far lol.
