Raleigh, less boring. Portland is too mundane in all seasons. Raleigh has great summers and variable winters.

Hard choice. Both are far from decent.
I'd probably have to go with Portland as winter would feel more winter-like there due to the higher latitude.
Raleigh is fucking gay.

Raleigh is slightly better. The variability, thunderstorms and fewer rain days outweigh the worse temps.

Portland >> Raleigh. Much more comfortable and drier summers was my primary voting factor. Shoulder seasons are better in Portland as well. Winters are non existent in either so that didn't matter.

Portland, but I prefer Raleigh's winter for having a greater chance of snow/nor'easters.

Raleigh, since I like thunderstorms, variable weather, and some winter sunshine. But a hybrid of Portland and Raleigh's summers would be better than either's on its own.

Both are pretty bad, but I'll edge towards Raleigh for not having gloomy winters.

Raleigh
Not even a contest. Portland is one of the better climates in the Pee Enn Double Yoo but Raleigh still has much warmer summers, more sunshine, and more precipitation.

Raleigh's got the better temps, but Portland wins it due to the glorious rainy winters and dry summers.

Man, this is a hard choice; Portland has better shoulder season weather, despite the chilly lows, but I don't like dry summers, which is the main shift to choose Raleigh. However, due to the longer summers, this makes Raleigh a fairly bad choice, especially when it looks like a 4-season temperate climate with the bare oaks and the freezing lows in the winter. It should be obvious, though, that both places have clearly defined winters.
As someone who has tested out the Myrtle Beach area for over a year now, I guess Raleigh isn't so bad though, but Portland is far more balanced and warmer mean minimums.

Raleigh, as it has less gloomy winters, and is warmer for a longer period for me [Though I prefer Portland's summers].
