Really? nobody even wants to give it a 3 because of the winters? Nope, those summers are way too lacking. Fairbanks has warmer summers than that...

Yeah but this climate is a fair bit colder than San Francisco. I don't know, I just don't see any subtropicality to it besides the lack of extreme cold.

Obvious zero lol. Imo summer matter more for βsubtropicalnessβ than winters

0. If every month increase by 2~3Β°C I'll give 5 for fitting my definition of subtropical but not being prototype.

I agree that this climate is not subtropical because it lacks hot enough summers but the winters are definitely mild enough to be subtropical. Otherwise, why would places like Shanghai be considered subtropical?

No, it is not subtropical at all, despite the lack of cold; summers are far too cool to be to be subtropical.

A 3. The absence of cold is AT LEAST as important as heat in a subtropical climate.

A 3. The absence of cold is AT LEAST as important as heat in a subtropical climate. Definitely not.

What in the world, this is so far from subtropical. Its record high should be its AVERAGE high for 3 months for it to be subtropical.

0.
This place is at 52Β°N. Summer is nonexistent and winter is hardly βsubtropicalβ in any capacity, just a more protected Astoria pretty much. Subtropical implies the presence of warmth and this place doesnβt have any.

0. The complete lack of warmth and heavy ocean moderation make it an obvious oceanic climate.

How I would rate cities on this scale.
0: Oymyakon 1: Lerwick 2: Berlin 3: New York 4: Paris 5: Scilly 6: Vigo 7: Bordeaux 8: San Francisco 9: Orlando 10: Brisbane
Everything above Scilly is subtropical. Scilly is by some definitions, but not under Koppen.
