No contest whatsoever. Campbell River is a handsome climate, whereas Matsumoto is gay as fuck.

Nagano has good sunshine for Japan, perhaps a pinch warm in summer but preferable to Campbell river's tepid summer temps, so definitely my overall preference. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dalles,_Oregon#Climate seems like a more comparable match in terms of the temperature profile (for highs), I'm not sure which of the two I would select. Maybe Matsumoto still as it isn't borderline semi-arid... but the dalles has more comfortable summer nights.

Campbell River. Matsumoto summers are hot, humid, and absolutely homosexual as fuck. But Matsumoto has thunderstorms. Campbell River is cooler, so it wins.
