Queenstown, New Zealand. I prefer Arrowtown, but there are no comprehensive climate details for there on Wikipedia. Queenstown is near a lake, which I predict increases the snow count. It is comfortably cool at summer, and cold enough at winter. it does have some rain at winter, but the high on average is above 40 so that doesn't indicate warm fronts. Queenstown, NZ Climate

Lots of great candidates. Used to think Perth, but having doubts because the winters are too warm and wet. Now I’d say Penrith!

Cairns has a climate that I would enjoy and winters are pleasantly warm

Of inhabited places, I guess I will go with Cooma or Jindabyne. If I can pick ski resorts, then Charlotte Pass or Thredbo would be my choice.

Sunny Corner, NSW
This gets a B, could use a bit warmer summers and more snow/snows but the big issue is the wet, stable winters. Unfortunately to get drier winters in Australia you have to sacrifice cold and snow.

Excellent climate greysrigging, I'm partial to Gladstone (which I reckon is a bit farther south) myself.

Excellent climate greysrigging , I'm partial to Gladstone (which I reckon is a bit farther south) myself. Gladstone is ( I believe ) the furtherest south mainland site to comply with Koppen's 18c mean tropical classification. Of the 3 Gladstone sites, only Gladstone Radar makes the 18c mean cut, The older Post Office site and the Airport site ( a few klm inland ) are slightly cooler in the winter months.
