What is your favourite with the following criteria part 3: Here are the criteria: - Located between 0ยฐS and 90ยฐS (Southern Hemisphere) - Any elevation - Must be a city with at least 100,000 people I think I'm going with Mombasa, Kenya en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mombasa#Climate

Not easy to find a good one with that many people but Bariloche meets the criteria, thankfully: Currently snowing there too with a snowy week coming up

Southern Hem cities lack real winters, and places like Bariloche has awful crummers, so I go with the next best thing: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bah%C3%ADa_Blanca#ClimateHot but not unbearably so summers, somewhat crispy but comfy winters, nice shoulder seasons and good amount of rainfall. Mayor has a nice name too.

Yeah it seems this forum is dominated with people who only like Dfa and Dfb climates which the Southern Hemisphere mostly lacks. I'm surprised that nobody has chosen this city which has cool to cold weather year round and significant snowfall in winter: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punta_Arenas#Climate

Will have to be Christchurch for me - in the citrus/ski zone and over 100,000. I'm surprised you didn't choose Wellington which has a climate more similar to yours.

I'm surprised you didn't choose Wellington which has a climate more similar to yours. Too far to go skiing, with about a 4 hour drive to the slopes. Can be on the slopes in about 80 minutes from Christchurch, and still have reasonable oranges. Makes sense... Can you grow decent citrus in Christchurch? I thought they could get some cold days there. I seem to remember one winter they only had a high of 1ยฐC a few years back. Not great for citrus.

Not great for citrus. One place I lived at in Christchurch had a lemon tree with good quality lemons, and have tried oranges and mandarins from Sumner (beach suburb), that were good. Certainly not as common down there as up here though. They certainly don't like the cold days, but Christchurch overall, is warm and dry enough that those odd cold days don't stop the growing of citrus In lowland areas in NZ, where is the southern limit for growing citrus? Christchurch must be at or near the limit then.

Clearly this one. The ideal climate means there will be 100k inhabitants any minute now. As a fan of Dfb climates, there isn't much to pick from in the southern hemisphere. Punta Arenas is too cold. Most of the places I want to pick are below 100,000. Bariloche wins because it gets snow even though I don't like the rainfall pattern.
Close but not quite good enough are Mar Del Plata and Tandil in Argentina. These climates look similar to some parts of Australia, except with more variable winters. Mar del Plata is below. Tandill is very similar, but with rainfall shifted more towards summer. There are a lot of climates with decent summers and mild winters that aren't bad, but not good enough to win. These climates have mild summers, cool winters, and moderate rainfall without a very wet or very dry season.
In Australia Toowoomba or Ballarat is best, I like the temperatures of Ballarat and the rainfall of Toowoomba. Inland NSW has good climates such as Orange but cities are under 100. Decent climates: Melbourne Canberra Hobart Geelong Toowoomba Ballarat Perth is not on the list, sorry noodle
Decent New Zealand climates over 100k: Christchurch is best, but it's hard to get enough seasonal range on an island. Christchurch Auckland Hamilton Tauranga The best in Africa are George, Western Cape and Maseru, Lesotho. George doesn't get enough seasonal variation and Maseru is too dry in winter. Also I doubt Maseru can get hot because of the elevation.
In south America, Argentina has the best climates. Chile is either too dry in summer or too wet in winter for me. Temuco is good except for the rainfall pattern and summer lows. Steelernation what about Neuquรฉn? Too dry? Desert lovers might like San Juan but there are better desert climates in Australia. This is the driest city I found in Argentina.

Crunch41 winter is too mild and snow is too rare. Not bad for SH climate though.
